Am I the only one who struggled with the amber light question on the tracked vehicle test? my mind went blank as well. Top viewing, especially like the audio clips of the old boys who served in them, I wonder when they were recorded, 60s?

If they'd have driven it through Lincoln, would they also have taken it to France? Whilst I'm sure lots of people would have enjoyed watching it go through Lincoln, seeing it in France was good TV.

Excellent program, gave enough history to make you see how much of a game changer it was.

Plus the less than superb reliability it had.
I was thinking it was a violent way of steering it just before it went bang..

Shame the drive in France was so short.
Would be been good to see it rumbling across a field and using the computer aided info to give distances and where the trenches were and a rough time to cross from 1 to the other.

IT was good when he had to take his driving test in a tracked vehicle.

It was just a lightweight Logistics tracked vehicle.

Given the location of the Lincoln Cenotaph they could have driven the short distance either side of it rather than up the High Street. But it wouldn't look great on TV I guess.

The 'Toob video posted above is a road legal tank...I highly doubt the thing they made was road legal. That's probably one reason to not allow it in the high street or anywhere near people?

you can use non road legal cars on streets with the correct council permit. That's how F1 demos in London happen.

All the Somerset Canival floats are made in barns and all have Police permissions, most are a good 3rd larger than an large truck and have less vision than the Rhomboid.

I've encountered a tank with L plates on coming the other way on a small country road before. I reversed back to a passing spot very quickly!

And for those who don’t know thanks to the incredibly detailed, thought out and useful OP, it’s a programme following him helping to build a WW1 tank from scratch! Should be a good watch, hopefully they might even go into a bit more tech detail than normal.
And we have to guess the channel? What use are you??

Anyway, I missed it. Virgin On Demand here I come. smile

That's some service for a Monday evening. I thought I might have a cup of tea and watch it on catch up.

Your night sounds a lot more interesting! smile

Really enjoyed this. Was impressed with the British engineering that could be summoned to make it possible. Liked the fact it had a Rolls Royce engine with military origins.

One of the most interesting programs I’ve seen on telly for a long time. And to imagine they built them 100 years ago without plasma cutters, CNC, mig welders etc etc.

Not too impressed with the poxy little pillow bearings they used for the main gear drive wheels. Pitifully small compared to the size of those chain drives. Predictably, one blew apart soon after the massive turning forces were thrown into it.

As usual from Guy and C4 a very good and informative program.

Nice to see a council being supportive of something different .

Can't say I surprised by Lincolnshire police, they are so corrupt and inept I'm surprised Guy didn't just say fk you and drive the tank down the high street anyway!
