A bit of a rushed introduction for people like me who haven't read all the comic books ever, to characters such as Aquaman and Cyborg.
That's the problem with DC trying to play catchup with the MCU - they are rushing things.Pretty much every character in the MCU had been introduced or had an origin/backstory set up prior to the big 'team up' movies (the only major character I can think of who hadn't was Spiderman - but it worked IMO because spiderman's origin story is pretty well known so didn't need to be told, unlike Aqua Man and Cyborg).
This allows the team up movie to get straight to the point as people already know what to expect of the characters.
Watched it tonight. I liked it more than Suicide Squad (not hard) but it wasn't Wonder Woman standard. Some of the fight scene CGI was horrible, more like a PlayStation game than a movie. The villain wasn't up to much. The Flash was less annoying than I thought he'd be from seeing the trailer (I haven't seen the TV series).
I was expecting it to be Suicide Squad levels of bad, but it wasn't. It's not great though.

I wasn't sure where to post this. It's too long for the youtube thread in the lounge, and not really a "film" I watched last week.
But as I lay in bed trying to avoid my hangover on Saturday morning, I ended up watching through all of the cutscenes of an old game called Injustice- set in an alternate timeline where Superman is tricked into killing Lois and nuking Metropolis. In his grief, he kills the villain responsible and decides that his weakness in previously letting evil exist at all was responsible and thus uses his power to create a new order of tyranny in which everyone must side with him or die.
Batman, now a terrorist in this new regime, pulls some heroes from the prime universe to help him overthrow Superman, and they arrive to find a world where everyone's allegiances are all over the place. LIke I say, I watched it despite the clunky graphics and player fight-scenes interrupting the flow. I think it was a bit clunky in a go-here-do-this sort of way as you'd expect from a game, but I've seen worse superhero movies from hollywood. Maybe only watch if you really have nothing better to do, or are a DC fan and can watch anything with superheroes in it-

There is, however, also an Injustice 2, set after the first in which Batman is forced to release the imprisoned Superman as he is faced with the annihilation of earth itself at the hands of Brainiac. The graphical quality of the cutscenes is just shy of something like The Spirits Within, the motion capture and facial expressions surely used motion capture and, again, I've seen much worse from hollywood itself. Watch Supergirls escape from Krypton if nothing else to give you an idea of the general quality.

It says it's 2 hrs 45 mins long because near the end the player gets to choose whether Batman or Superman should win the day and the video plays them both out to some pretty grim conclusions! In addition to a load of post-credit stuff about how each character would turn out had they been the one to defeat Brainiac.
If nothing else it really shows how far games have come as an artform- I'm not sure that Injustice 2 isn't actually better than both Man of Steel (which I liked) and Batman vs Superman (which I didn't) and makes me a little sad that I'm not 13 any more with a whole ton of life to burn on computer games. I think System Shock or Fallout was about as good as storytelling got by the time I'd quit.

What’s this, a remake of the movie?
Snyder had completed many ‘chapters’ of the film when he left it many of which were not used in the film that was eventually released making it effectively a diiferent film when reinserted. How different won’t be known until it’s released shortly.Guvernator said:
That looks hugely different, I don't recognise half the scenes in the movie, even the baddie looks noticeably different. Looks like a huge amount of effort. Wonder why they didn't let him release this version.
The film is meant to be 4hrs long in total - 3.5 hours of that is new footage which hasn't been shown before.glazbagun said:
Directors cut. Zach Snyder left before tge release of the original which had lots of reshoots as DC wanted a lighter tone, but it bombed.
One of the worst films I have had the displeasure of paying for. This trailer looks very promising, hopefully all the hard work pays off this time.

Yep. DC tried to catch up in a few years on the MCU that had been built up since 2008. It didn't work. Between the movies and the TV series there are several versions of the same people and it's not all part of one single thing.
I'd be happy if DC did their own thing with separate films like Joker was, and not try to fit everything together.

Not sure I can wait 3.5 hrs for Supes to turn up. And that's the problem with this version, the joy of anticipating the baddie getting his backside kicked is stretched out for too long. Visually seems an improvement on the original though. There will be a black and white version of the Snyder cut. Justice League: Justice Is Gray
