The Professionals at 40
Discussion
Lewis Collins should have been Bond instead of Roger Moore. Sky tried to remake the Professionals in the late 90s. Two crap generic actors and plodding dull scripts.
You'd think writing a 24 esque British based spy drama to the 70’s formula wouldn’t be impossible. Every attempt marred by poor casting and producers wanting heavy use of product placement.

The quest to locate PNO 641T above ,was never ending for the RS fraternity ,reg was believed fake as the car's spec is earlier than that.
DVLA......."vehicle details not found"...so ???.
The programme's influence on teenagers was enough for my first proper ,expensive car ,over 2000 pounds ,was a car
mostly identical to PNO ,being an S reg white with BVR car.
This website suggests it still existsDVLA......."vehicle details not found"...so ???.

Trigger played an international hitman in one episode.
His voice was dubbed as well. I'd love to hear the original with his own voice.I think they used the same white and yellow Bell Jet Ranger helicopter in several episodes too.
Remember watching that first episode in December '77, 9pm on the Friday, and loved it straight away.
Sometimes forgotten is the fact that Anthony Andrews was originally cast as Bodie, the first episode filmed was 'Old Dog, New Tricks' but it soon became apparent to the producers that he just wasn't quite right for it, so Lewis Collins was offered the part, Anthony Andrews' scenes were reshot and the rest is history...
Doyle's first motor in series one was the Mexico Brown Rover 2000 Automatic which was passed onto Euston Films to be used in 'Sweeney 2' at the end of 1977...

The Professionals is one of my very favourite shows.
It's well served by one of the very best fan websites which I recommend to look at:
http://www.mark-1.co.uk/Professionals/epslist.htm
Yesterday ITV 4 showed the second series episode "First Night". I have this in the box set and on my media server. Its one of the most superb TV episodes ever. It moves at a fantastic pace has great dialogue and is better than most movies. 50 minutes of superb TV

Wonder what that RS2000 would be worth now?
Given the madness for the blue oval, I am sure that there would be some lunatic somewhere who be prepared to spunk £100,000 on it. I loved this show as a kid and I still love watching it now. I have a professionals model of the silver Capri with the box signed by Lewis.
I often watch an episode and open a beer. It was such a great series. A real shame that Lewis didn't get the Cowley part in the remake, he nearly did.
I was very sad when Lewis died. Here is his resting place.
RIP Lewis.

Anyone remember Lewis as Gavin in the The Cuckoo Waltz, just before Professionals?
