Blade Runner, both films.
The first one gets my vote.
It is in my top 1 of rotten movies.
Everyone else I know thinks it's marvelous.

this for me. I have friends who rave about it, quote it, chuckle amongst similar fanboys whilst reminiscing, yet I think its a big pile of self indulgent, boring old poo.

Never a middle ground it seems.

Vive la difference.

Tropic Thunder.

Utterly and completely over-hyped. Had to turn it off after 10 minutes.

The Deer Hunter.

Apparently everyone thinks it's amazing, and yet I think it's utter bilge.

Yup.

It's true Marmite. If you're a fan, you not only know others will hate it, you can sort of see why wink

A few come to mind, "Fatal Attraction" was the first film I just thought was so bad I dozed off. The Original "Casino Royale" I thought couldn't be that bad. It was and still is.

The Dark Knight.

Hated it on it's first viewing. Didn't think Ledgers Joker was at all menacing - and the plot was entirely predictable.

Gave it a second chance on a flight from UK to the US - and hated it even more.

I haven't watched it since.

Apocalypse Now is another - there's 2.5 hours of my life i'll never get back.

The English Patient.

Watched it because it won a billion Oscars. Didn't enjoy it (and I usually enjoy all sorts of different movies).

That in itself might not be newsworthy, but I am notorious for finding the best in everything I watch. Just couldn't find anything to like with this one.

Mad max fury road

I'm not even sure myself if it's amazing or self indulgent nonsense.

Marmite though? Both are pretty much universally liked. A marmite film would be one where there is no general consensus and a whole bunch of differing opinion.

"Drive" is fairly marmitey. I'm in the "absolutelyfkingloveit" camp.

I think a lot of people took the title at face value and thought it was a "fast & furious" car chase movie.

I agree with you - there are several good films trapped within it though!
