Why was number 20 soaking BEFORE doing the fall into the water?
No idea.

Presumed she went once and they didn’t catch it properly on camera?

Or someone really finds her attractive and couldn’t control themselves?

Also weird how the other guy decided to walk without any explanation.

It was very X-Factor last night with not much real action.
This is the poorest series for me. It just seems disjointed and the one eyed man leaving, 5 minutes after he was given a good review by the mole, while on parade was bizarre. Several were wet before the back flip so maybe drenched themselves to prevent shock. The sea around Skye is bloody cold. The pretty solicitor was feeling the cold though...
There have been a couple of unexpected drop outs on this series. One eye willy was a surprise given that he had overcome cancer and was obvs extremely fit. It may have just been the editing but it seemed to suggest that moments before getting called back on the parade square the recruits were talking about being at home, taking hot showers etc and he said something about getting a hot bath with a whisky - wonder if the thought of home made him think sod this.

p.s. the female nips are one of the best things about this show!

There seems to be a lot less of a focus on the female contestants this year bar for the female lawyer.

Haven’t really spotted a stand out fit one amongst them yet as little air time

There is a documentary series that dates from the mid 1980’s which followed the training for the Royal Marines Artic Warfare cadre. At the end of the last big exercise (covering some immense distance in the snow over the course of a week) they were ‘captured’. However it turned into a full on brawl between the trainees and the capture team and ended up with one them getting smacked in the head with a rifle butt.

Might suggest it to Channel 4.
"Behind the Lines" by the BBC and available on iPlayer?

Last night saw the last of the solicitor lady.frown Wonder why they had the boxing matches on an old fish farm unit? Would have been better with no safety rails and the winner chucked the loser over the side. evil

One thing that always strikes me as odd about this series pretence to replicate SF selection is the harrying and bullying of the candidates to perform better.

Everything I've ever read about any UK SF selection makes is abundantly clear that you're on your own to make it and that no-one is going to help you or chivvy you on.

The only explanation that I can think of is that if you're in the forces you've already done all that stuff in the basic training, whereas civilians are far more likely to just give up without the 'encouragement' potentially leaving them with 3 people by the end of episode one.

I have to say, though, that it's started to grate in recent series.

It's still the only 'reality' show I ever watch, though.

PS Just noticed someone else mentioned this in passing.

a) without the yelling it would be a very quiet show that nobody would watch
b) and the candidates would just bimble about

a) I think I can watch a whole series without having to hear someone shouting at people.
b) Probably - Is my memory flawed, but I seem to recall that in early series you either completed a task within the target time or you were out?

If I'm right about b then it's probably a reflection of it becoming less of a taster of selection and more of a reality show with 'challenges'.

Indeed. I am not sure real SF selectors are that interested in a candidate's back story. There was a SAS selection show that seemed more realistic with Dermot O'Leary, and run by a Scottish non-nonsense hard-nosed ex SAS type.

I enjoyed the Freddie Flintoff 'Special Forces: Ultimate Hell Week' on BBC2 a few years back.

Was that where they had SF from different countries each week? That was good.

I am a bit surprised that they seem to be driven around in nice comfy Land Rovers.

110s are neither nice nor comfy when sat in the rear bench seat seats carrying a ruck.

A 3rd class ride is better than a 1st class walk.

Far too soft. Giving the 'recruits' the wrong impression. They need some of these. Toughen them up a bit. smile

TBH, even after being out in the worst of weather's for 20 hours on the hills I'd always opt to walk... But then I wasn't on selection or being beasted.

Never really given this much of my free time to watch.
It’s seems like a load of bks really.

I’m an ex soldier so none of this stuff is new to see, beggars belief why civvies want to do it and some actually pay for it too away from this programme !

Given it a bit of a go this time round.
Similar format really and wanted to see what Mel was going to be like on it. Served with him at the parent regiment before he went down the SF route.

Have just watched the very first episode of the first series from 2015. Only 2 DS, Ant and Foxy, in the current series. There are no females.
Its completely different with a huge emphasis on fitness and sleep deprivation. The DS took the numbers of 5 recruits and they were gone. They kicked another off not long after the start. The current series is not doing it for me so I'll watch the early stuff again.

Yeah, there was 2 series of that and it was a much better format I feel. Used to really enjoy Who Dares Wins but I bailed after episode 2 this year, just can't stomach how set up it feels now. I've also unfollowed Ant on social media as he is just as painful on his own now. I think in pursuit of making as much cash and stringing this second career out as much as they can that himself and others have lost sight of what made them popular in the first place.

Ant was good in the show where they followed Captain Bligh’s route in an open boat. That was certainly ‘real’ enough.
