Idiots. Import a sound, undamaged car, and then let some stupid bird stuff it into a rock !!! Then remove the 'crap' Mazda engine, and replace with a Zetec! The Mazda designed engine is the Duratec version, of Porshe origin, which subsequently became the basic design of many engines. Far superior to the Zetec,
Duratecs are great engines IMO.

Did anyone else see this on Quest?

MK2 Escort with a Zetec swap being passed off as some amazing, never been done before, conversion. It's like Gas Monkey Garage but with all the cool sucked out of it. Very little technical stuff but plenty of grinding, sparks and slo-mo shots.

Can't say I'm too impressed thus far.

My friend has had a Zetec on throttle bodies in a mk1 cortina for about ten years nearly after seeing a mk2 escort with the conversion done!

Managed about fifteen minutes of this before the constant generi-metal music blasting out (often too loudly) got on my wick and I had to change the channel.

It was completely unoriginal and totally formulaic.

The car was also, frankly, a bit st.

Hmm seems it won't get much better then...
1/ 10....Jimmy was quite entertaining on his own.... But this show after ep1 looks dross.... So let's smash up a car, replace a few panels and contract out everything else so it's just an assembly job and not exactly anything original either. Good result but hardly interesting tv....utter lightweight stuff....dear old car sos back on though... Now if only they'd lose Sherwood to Goblin and leave Fuzz to do his thing......

So far I haven’t heard a single person with anything good to say about this soap opera. On here, or on a couple of other automotive type forums.

Is there any way to actually give feedback to the people who produce this sort of drivel?

before though - maybe consider what we love as a hobby, sport and even professional is being eroded.

We are in an age where many people want to ban noise, speed, fun with cars and bikes at all.

I met these guys - as they had a live viewing of the first episode. They're really nice people and are trying to get something off the ground that is in the field that we all are supposed to love being on Pistonheads.

Have we forgotten starting our own careers, companies and passions? It's hardly easy to get things off the ground.

I can imagine it is massively difficult to even get something like this on TV.

I personally want more, not less - and so i'm going to give it a proper chance.

Don't watch it fine, but don't try and kill it by complaining surely?

Next we will be going around complaining about petty st like private number plates and loud (yet legal) exhausts

I don't doubt that they're nice folk, but they should really try and impart the knowledge that they have rather than the stylised approach the director has given them.

Oh yes, and to make a rally replica without a Grp 4 front spoiler?

There seems to be quite a bit of good chatter about it on twitter. I suspect we all just feel a bit letdown by something so dumbed-down and crassly formulaic.

I recently met somebody who worked on the show. Nobody is denying that they're nice guys. He had only good things to say about them. I expect it will get a second series.

it's not just about them being nice people - it's about keeping what we love alive.

There will be a time when we will all be auto driven in grey boxes.

That time isn't here yet - let's support everyone that wants to delay it, even by a second.

Not to mention - the Grid Girls thread talks about having women involved in Cars, Motorsport and not just glorified clothes hangers.

Here we have 1/3rd of the presenting team as a mechanic. Granted she is totally stunning (more so in real life) - but still............

Has the internet go the point we will slag off anything...........

It was the same with the Top Gear threads.

Nothing is ever perfect. I vote less arm chair slagging off, and more arm chair supporting for things connected to our passion.

So we turn a blind eye to rubbish like this as giving them (the program makers) honest feedback might kill it off? In its current form that may be no bad thing. It doesn't have to kill it off though does it? It could simply encourage them to try harder?

Car SOS and Wheeler Dealers (well before Ed China left anyway) both prove that a) there's an audience out there and b) they don't need programs dumbed down with minimal technical content. In fact, it's the latter we often watch for. The Americanised format, with the slo-mo shots, grinders sparking and heavy rock simply don't transfer to the UK. Especially with the added classic or retro car aspect, as our motoring history simply isn't the same.

Other aspects, such as hinting at their coming up with the idea of a Zetec swap, were simply misleading. There is an episode coming up with a lowered Land Rover and it'll be interesting to see if that's an idea they lay claim to? It was done years ago on Retro Rides.

Maybe they could be encouraged to look at forum like this and see what people would really like, instead of churning out over stylised nonsense with no real content?

that's fair enough Mark - maybe I'm sensitive as there seems to be so many witch hunts on PH these days.

I'm sure constructive feedback would be more than welcome!
