I just don't get this Yianni Charalambous thing on Dave.

I mean, take a posh car, wrap it in coloured clingfilm and paint its calipers? That's cutomisation? FFS. Granted, I've only seen two episodes
but it gets on my tits too much to watch more.

Not exactly Ed Roth is he?

It's not incredible in its technical detail, that's for sure. I watched a couple last week but I probably won't bother again, it's all just too much filler for me, too much repetition, too many stupid deadlines. When it was announced as "customising" I wondered if there would be some real work, but it's just sticky-backed plastic. Thing is, it'd be interesting to see the process of wrapping a car, how they get all the really fiddly bits done, but they don't even show that in any detail. They made a big fuss about the dent on Charlie Sloths van wheelarch, and then just stuck the plastic over it anyway - I thought they might at least have filled it to shape and warned him it'd come off with the plastic.

Trouble is, if I stop watching these car-related shows because of the stupid deadlines, there wouldn't be any left to watch. None of them seem to be able to resist it. And we don't get to see enough of the cars to be able to at least go with "there's some nice cars on it".

I watched 2 episodes, can’t bring myself to watch any more.
The killer was the part where they followed Yianni to the barbers, I mean who the hell wants to watch that?

Well, it's hardly bhin rides is it?!

I thought they'd actually do some customising, rather than just sticking vinyl on.
Bit short on proper close ups of the details of the wrap as well - makes me think the quality isn't that high!

1/10.

First episode, briefly shows a close up of front badge of the I8. Huge crease line right across bonnet.

I’ve worked on an SLS wrapped by them and it was shocking.

Was it me or did everyone on episode one look like they might be relatives of Yanni the sticky back plastic man.

I'm the wrong side of 30 so know I'm probably not his target audience, but who on earth was that insufferable Charlie Sloth bloke?

'Oh my DAZZZZZZZEEE bruvva, I can see what you've done already, you've stuck a plug on the bonnet bro, that's SIKK!!'

Please tell me this guy isn't rich and/or famous?

Radio 1 DJ, not my kind of music so I haven't heard anything other than when he used to pop into the Scott Mills show for a few minutes.

I did wonder how long it'll be before he gets pulled up for having protruding sharp edges from that 3-pin plug stuck on the bonnet.

bhin rides seems to cover a lot of the actual build process and techniques, and actually has build times of months not weeks so much more realistic i think

It's been pretty good so far. Mindless entertainment, and the deadlines / slebs / drama are largely faked, but an easy way to spend an hour. In an era where 5th Gear is dead, Top Gear and Grand Tour are dying, and every YouTuber is pretty much the same, Yianni is something slightly different. Okay, it won't last more than a couple of series or so, but it's watchable for now.

Right, got it, THE idea to pitch to the TV high ups.

1: Get that woman who inspects people's poo on TV.
2: Get celebs to lay logs but they must be laid to a deadline.
3: Yianni and team wrap the logs.
4: The producer of the prettiest log gets to punch that irritating squit Sloth extremely hard, repeatedly.

It'd be possible to expand the target demographic by having the stting done by meerkats or better yet, singing meerkats.

Can be like Yianni and call myself an 'entrepreneur' now?

I guess so - you both seem to have the same idea about a show where people do a st wrapping job.
