Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars (Quest)
Discussion
Agreed on the reg plate on the Capri ,worth a little bit.
The bonnet.....if they found a secondhand in the same colour ,no one is going to know it's not the original.
Ford don't stamp the VIN on every panel., they do however have a Ford oval stamped on original panels ,so a poor
pattern wouldn't be acceptable.
The Lancia......how could he not like the Martini livery initially ?.....one of the most iconic liveries of all time.
He had to have a dig at the non starting 512 TR.
And then...."I've never owned a working Italian car before"..
Hahah ,just said for comedic stereotype laughs.
He''ll always be an arse ,can't change that.
How many of next week's cars will be his "favourite of all time" ?

Strange one this - the programme just doesn't work on a number of levels:
- The dynamic with Pritchard and his sidekick of awkward (on Salvage Hunters whilst Tee and Gav don't add anything, they seem to keep Pritchard nailed down to the ground a bit)
- On Salvage Hunters Pritchard seems to be genuinely a master of his trade and very knowledgeable, he clearly doesn't have that same depth around cars
- The show has a massive bullish*t quotient not present on the antiques SH show (which is also rigged, but somehow doesn't 'jump the shark')
- His sidekick in the car show really doesn't seem very likeable or genuine that also detracts
- Also the fact gaffs, holes in the plot etc. I was expecting to see Mike Brewer on the production team it is so bad!
This show is really a poor vehicle (no pun intended) for the Pritchard franchise and really makes him come across as an arrogant to**er.
I guess he's earning good money for this and it's supporting his new business…

Paul is actually very likeable and has amazing automotive knowledge in real life.- The dynamic with Pritchard and his sidekick of awkward (on Salvage Hunters whilst Tee and Gav don't add anything, they seem to keep Pritchard nailed down to the ground a bit)

He’d put many on PH to shame!

Indeed iconic but on the Deltas (and possibly all Martini liveried cars) the pattern of stripes is unique to each variant of the car. So a Delta S4,HF 4WD, 8V grale, 16V grale and Evo all have different patterns. These geniuses put an evo pattern on a 16V which just looks weird.
And the "original" steering wheel was an evo part too, and with the Martini colours on the spokes possibly from a Martini 5 or 6 special edition. If evo wheels are like 8V/16V wheels, there is no visible stitching so the recovering was wrong too.
I still stand by these comments I made 11 months ago:

I think the biggest problem with this programme is that Drew's business model doesn't translate very well.
With his Architectural Salvage, he buys rare, quirky, and/or desirable things, gives them a sympathetic restoration / tart up / polish, and then sells them to his loyal clientele who will pay top dollar for the kind of things he finds. And because they're fairly unique, they are worth what people will buy for them.
Cars, on the other hand, are a totally different thing. They are a known quantity, they have a known market value, buyers are more savvy and have other examples to compare against, and "quirky" and "different" modifications are more likely to limit the market than expand it.
Plus, there are a glut of "buy car, do it up, and flip it" shows around.
This style of programme just doesn't suit Drew. I get that he's passionate about cars, but it doesn't really have anything to differentiate it from Wheeler Dealers, Car S.O.S., etc. Plus it doesn't really suit his business model and strengths. A mate of mine is building one now so I'm hoping it looks better

I didn't mention the red scheme to avoid pedantry and as it was only used on the '89 San Remo, it was dropped it because it didn't film well. The 16Vs then used the same pattern over white for the next two seasons.
Drew's car was wrong as it had the scheme in your last photo and not the middle one - they are very different.
