I absolutely hated Ferris, most of the Brat Pack movies were awful!

Yeah, I don't like the brat pack movies, but Ferris wasn't one.

I tried for half an hour but realised I was on a sinking ship, grabbed a lifeboat and got well out of it!

Surely it is a bad film.........premise was a bit mad, guy marooned on a desert island and then a helpful corpse is washed up on the beach.......

What a load of st.

Cant help but think if a tesco shelf stacker pulled that st with a woman - he’d be on a register faster than you can say ‘every little helps’

It’s ok though cos he’s loaded, bought her a car and took her for a helicopter ride.

Last word on Ferris, this is PH after all, so we all know the 250 GTO was a kit car replica, right? In fact two, both with Ford V8's, a rolling fibreglass chassis for the scene where they boot it over the cliff & a real one for close up shots

I stuck with it until the end and was glad I did.
In a world awash with CGI mega-wow, cheap chick-flicks, remakes and reboots, this was properly different, bonkers, but quite touching in the end.

I got half way through, got properly weirded out and haven't gone back yet, I might try and finish it one day....

For the work secret Santa I had a scratch off poster of 100 bucket list films. I scratched off 45 straight away, leaving a few I wasn't sure if seen or seen so many clips, pictures etc that I thought I had. Some of the remaining 55 are classics I just hadn't seen, one was The Abyss, which was on Film 4 recently and I recorded it. Watched it lastnight and really liked it.

The car used in the film was a 250GT California Spyder, not a 250GTO.

There is about $38 million difference in cost between the two.

A drama thriller with a few nice plot twists. A dementia sufferer is given an envelope with some money and a letter in it. He keeps reading the letter and follows the instructions.

No spoliers, a very good watch. An 8/10 from me.

The Abyss is another great movie. In some ways I feel it was a bit cookie-cutter, with discount Bruce willis and his ex-wife problems, James Cameron doing a lot of what we've seen in Aliens, etc. But in the end I don't care because it's just so enjoyable. The scene where his wife drowns still gets me.

Apparently in filming, after all of that slapping, etc, it turned out the camera wasn't rolling and they lost loads of her performance. Mastrantonio refused point blank to do it again, so she's out of shot for a lot of it and a body double was brought in.

I watched that a year or two ago, i didn't see the end coming and i'm normally good at picking those sort of things up. Was a solid 8.5 for me.

Darkest Hour. Rather good. Oldman was brilliant and Winston. I liked how it was all set out. The early days of his leadership were clearly a huge struggle.



I can't believe there are people who don't like Ferris Buellers Day Off. One of my top ten. But then I was born in the 80's and wonder if those who dislike it were born later.

Watched 'Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool' on a flight the other day. Really enjoyable and based on a true story. Fantastic performances by Jamie Bell and Annette Bening. Well worth seeing.
