A few I've watched over the past few weeks

Carter and June
A poor heist by a loser and a stripper with debt issues, that goes wrong and it's all a case of who cares anyway. A meh film. 4/10

Darkest Hour
Didn't quite appreciate what part of the War this was about, to be honest, namely how he got us into the War and rejected any peace deals with Hitler, when faced with almost inevitable invasion. It was entertaining enough but what were undoubtedly the fictional parts, jarred ie the explaining of the map to his typist and the rather forced subway scene. Very good acting, especially from Kristin Scott Thomas but I think it really lacked something. Didn't help that the King didn't look like the King..or am I thinking of Colin Firth... wink 7/10.

Daddy's Home 2
I was expecting this to be fairly dire, especially given my increasing intolerance to Will Ferrell's inability to portray anyone but himself. Initially, i was not disappointed and could barely remember or care about the plot of the first film and it was cringeworthy, in many scenes, as expected. However, as the film wore on, there were some genuinely funny moments. I can't explain it - this film has all the hateful ingredients of an American Christmas film, Mel Gibson and people with unlimited pockets but I laughed far too regularly, as it progressed and for that, I must apologise. I almost remembered the ending of the first film... 6/10 but still far too Yank Christmas.

He didn't, Neville Chamberlain declared war on Germany on September 3 1939, Churchill became PM when Chamberlain resigned 10 May 1940.

Watched Logan Lucky.

A decent caper/heist movie. Bit formulaic but a decent couple of hours entertainment, although I didn't really understand the twist/reveal ending.
If you like Oceans 11, this is much the same
I'd forgotten about this one, missed it at the flicks but notice it's now on Amazon Prime. Will watch it tonight,

Saw Solo, A Star Wars story today. I thought it was ok, not as good as Rogue One though. I would score it 6/10.

Gringo.

Silly, but not too bad. 5/10. Actually, call it 6/10, extra point for Ms Theron and her potty mouth smile

Solo: Star Wars Story

Decent addition to the SW universe, not quite on par with Rogue 1, but a decent 6.5/10 and much better than TLJ.

You know what I meant. We are all familiar with Mr Chamberlain's speech.

The pretty strong anti-german/hitler thing?

Just saw the first 5 Minutes of Fish Tank as a taster.

A bit fruity in the language department by Ms Potty mouth lead part.

Worth a watch?

Seems like it has the Film Four British recipe.

Brawl in Cell Block 99

Cross between a dark superhero movie and a schlock horror flick - very entertaining but fully deserving of the 18 rating.

Vince Vaughan makes the difference though. Cast any of the usual suspects in the same role and it wouldn't have worked as well.

8/10

3 Billboards.

I wouldn't go as far as all the gushing accolades it received - but it was pretty good and kept me hooked. I'd give it an 8/10, decent performances all round. I liked Peter Drinklage's character......really felt for him in the restaurant scene.

Got to admit I struggled with this film, I felt the director tried to forcefully create a cult classic but failed, 6/10 from me frown

That the one-armed brother was constantly plagued by bad luck? Or the timeless tale of the cop who won't quit? It made perfect sense to me, a bit of a blank last page though I admit. But still, I enjoyed it as a movie smile

I just didn't understand why the owner of the racetrack only reported some of the money as missing and was then prepared to let the rest just disappear.

Didn't he have a pay out from the insurance company and ended up profiting from it himself? Something along those lines anyway, been a while since I watched it.

Continued watching later last night.

Having been a contractor working on dozens of council estates in the London area, I can honestly say that the setting isn't over exaggerated.

The film was true to, (low) life in so many ways. Uncontrollable 15 year old girl who has dreams of being a dancer living with her young mother and younger sister.Awful grey blocks of flats, cheap cider and a pathetic outlook for most but put together in such a way as to make compelling viewing.

Superbly acted by all, notably the young girls, (who must have been giggling off screen given the language of the script).

Treat yourself, this is a superb film.

9.2expletives/10

Because they would have had to reveal that they'd operated on cash (because they blew up the comms station) and that would probably have invalidated any type of insurance. They weren't conducting business as they should have done, and should probably have shut the facility and postponed the event. Instead, they went ahead.

Solo - from the box office negativity, the troubled production and the lack of real suspense I thought that this would be a real clunker. I'm glad to say that I found it quite entertaining - certainly a lot better than The Last Jedi.

Some films;

Lucky Them
lovely lil comdey drama, well written and acted, love Haden Church's performances. And Toni COllette is gorgeous

My OLd lady
another comedy drama with real relationship stuff as opposed to the bigger false ones. Kevin Kline, Magie Smith and KST.

Cell
a sort of zombie film, great premise, one could tell it was a tad, cheapish, just executed poorly, and felt a bit flat at the end, read about the book...that Stephen KIng issue whereby he has a great kernel, but just needs someone to come along and polish it and cut it well. 28 Days Later still reigns supreme as the alternative zomb flick
