Watching with an open mind, but I'm just not getting it.

We're halfway through, so it's not like we're not giving it a chance.
More of a big screen type film.
I hate musicals but I quite enjoyed it.

It's on iPlayer.

I've just watched The Deep, not the carribean one. The Icelandic one about the human seal.

Pretty amazing (true) story. Quite scary how quickly a trawler can go under. For several years, the recovered wreck of the Solway Harvester languished in Douglas Harbour. Used to see it when over for the TT. It became a bit of a thing going to see it.

Terrible way to go.

Only the Brave , sadly a true story about firefighters in Arizona . Well made and certainly brings home the speed that wildfires travel , bit too close to home as one of our sons does this , very quiet in the room during the final credits . 7/10 , hats off to the heroes .

About where I’d rate it too. Much better than I expected it to be.

Ferrari, The Race to Immortality. A documentary about the rivalry at Ferrari in the years between 1954 and 1958 between the drivers who drove the cars particularly Mike Hawthorn, Peter Collins, Luigi Musso and the Marquise De Portago. Very insightful with plenty of racing and still photos, some of them rather graphic of the accidents that took place especially the 1955 Le Mans crash of Pierre Levegh.

Black Panther. Marvel does the Lion King, sort of. It's a comic book film, so more about the visuals than character depth, the final battle is pretty predictable, and it's probably a little too long. Better than average. 7/10.

Lake Mungo - an Australian found footage film about a family whose teenage daughter accidentally drowns and begin to experience strange phenomena around the house. Slow burning but horror which despite its lack of budget (or more likely, because of) manages to be really creepy with a constant sense of eeriness and sadness. Definitely worth trying if you're fed up of films that think being scary is lots of jump scares and loud noises.

Fast and furious 8

Do I need to seek help, I enjoyed it.

Mainly due to statham and Johnson hamming it up.

Don’t worry about story or physics or anything really, just watch and let brain atrophy.

Watched it today because I wanted some brain out fun, it really was unmitigated shyte.

I am surprised the actors keep a straight face delivering some of the lines.

Still I guess their target market is 15-20 year old boys who want a movie version of PlayStation

2/10 for a couple of the cars and Stath with baby

Middle Men (2009)

Had seen it before but decided to watch it again and really enjoyed it.

In my opinion a much underrated film with plenty of coke and hookers on show smile

Young Timothée Chalamet (CMBYN lead and “jerk boyfriend” in Lady Bird) is going to be a huge movie star. He’s a once in a generation. The next Christian Bale/Pacino/Day-Lewis/DiCaprio. He’s just been cast to play Henry V.
Was he the son in Interstellar? Thought he was very understated in that.

Wrong Turn at Tahoe 2009

A modern / violent gangster film with the ever reliable Harvey Keitel who is the boss of bosses in his local drug pool and clashes with another guy who has inadvertently killed one of his 'salesman' a step or two down the ladder. Actually deliberately killed with a baseball bat but as the story goes...
For me a solid 7/10

For movie buffs...
I wanted to mention the Frog and Scorpion story which I first heard in 'Ryan Gosling's Drive', but also features in this film and has much more relevance and plays out right at the end.

Indeed. Like him a lot. Watch "Moon"...it's superb.

Apocalypto 2006 (on Amazon Prime)

A brutal thrill ride from start to finish. I've had this on DVD for years, but for some reason I've never watched it, until now. Finishes with one of the longest and most tense chase scenes committed to film.

A big recommendation from me, but not for the faint-hearted.

10/10
Another I agree on.

I avoided watching this as it seemed to be released when Gibson was on full mental. Can't recall what prompted me to watch it one evening, but bloody hell is it good. Bought the DVD so I could watch it on demand.

Watched Wind River last night. Really liked that. Good character development, felt very sympathetic. Bit of a "bugger me we've not started the ending yet" ending. But really enjoyed the film. I can take or leave Renner, but he was good in it.
