missed the first 40 mins (damn you bbc), but it's enthralling...but still, tough to get into without the first 40 mins...but still captivating... biggrin
Stuck it out, it had a Goodfellas vibe, very good film, will need to rewatch it in totality, the world of the scumbag bwankers and their morally and financially corrupt system is pretty sickening though, come the revolution!

Watched this last night too, had been meaning to watch it on Netflix for a while but never got around to it. What a brilliant film, the way the whole saga was presented was so accessible and I loved all of the breaking the 4th wall moments. A proper 9/10 film for me with plenty of rewatch potential.

SWMBO was out yesterday so I got stuck into...

First Man - Pretty damn good and portrayed Neil Armstrong as a tough individual who didn't pull any punches. Cool as a cucumber in a number of crisis throughout his career. Some great CGI in it. 7.5/10

Yeah, loved that aspect, didn't expect it at all, reminded me of Henry Hill talking about gangsters

Watched Journey's End last night, terrific portrayal of life in the trenches. Gritty and very moving.
The book was part of our English lessons many moons ago - but it seemed very familiar.

Excellent Viewing, and a superb cast. Stephen Graham and Paul Bettney especially.

Cracking film. Seen it a couple of times now. Bourdain's explanation of CDO's was brilliant.

Watched Boiler Room last night. Think gnarly version of The Wolf of Wall Street. 7/10.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse

My eighth superhero movie at the cinema this year, in fact my third this week, and somewhat unexpectedly this jumps straight to the top...by a mile.

Wonderful film with utterly gorgeous visuals and a hugely entertaining plot. I've no idea how they kept that much story contained within 2 hours yet made it easy to follow and so well fleshed out. So, so much to take in that it's going to take a few home viewings in future to absorb it all.

I've seen that a lot, it's a pretty good film for what it is - it seems to be on quite often at the moment, almost as often as Love Actually and Notting Hill were at one point. On another channel last night was "The Day After Tomorrow", another good weather-related film, probably has the edge for me over 2012.

I watched that as well. I wasn't sure whether it was a film I'd seen before (with Zachary Quinto) but that's a different one on similar lines. Enjoyable film though. And I thought that looked a bit like Karen Gillan but convinced myself it wasn't.

CAM

Netflix thriller about a 'webcam girl' who pleasures her clients online for cash suddenly finding that somebody who is her exact double is stealing her life and clients and generally fking up her life.

Boobs and Bums galore in a so-so who's-doing-it thriller.

6 bosoms in 10 bra cups.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Not new but the first time I'd seen it. Really quite a nice film, a bit 'Forrest Gump' too. Well worth a (2.5hr) watch.

9, technically. It's pretty easy, actually...

1. Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse
2. Avengers: Infinity War
3. Ant Man and the Wasp
4. Black Panther
5. Once Upon A Deadpool
6. Deadpool 2
7. Aquaman
8. Justice League
9. Venom

Although it has to be said only Spider-verse comes anywhere near my top 10 cinema trips this year.

I have no particular Marvel/DC affiliation or history from a young age etc. In fact I'm not particularly into comic book stuff and these make up a small percentage of cinema trips this year so far.

You should post that on the MCU Reddit and sit back and watch the mayhem you cause by ranking Antman 2 over both Deadpools.

T2 Trainspotting - 20 years later and Renton comes back to face the friends he ripped off. Nostalgic and mostly depressing, not as funny as the first but some good moments. Had to watch with subtitles as the OH couldn't understand a word. biggrin 7/10

Really? I don't tend to follow reviews any more (and I avoid trailers/news, so go in pretty blind) so I'm largely out of the loop on what's generally regarded as the better stuff. Deadpool really feels like it's run its course now, but I loved the breezy nature of Ant Man.

Spider-verse really just blew me away though, head and shoulders above all of those, as much as I appreciated how well everything was brought together in Infinity War.

Just seems to me that there are consensus blocks on sites like that which fight other blocks with black and white thinking. Individual opinions out of the shouting will make the shouting louder from one group whilst another attempts to take them in. Like an entertainment (and entertaining) version of the European Parliament.

I broadly agree with you on Antman and Deadpool. I really liked the first for its type of humour which went alongside the action well. The second one not so much because of the execution of the story.

I love both Deadpools and think they could do a successful third film. Worth seeing Deadpool in its own light IMO, with the more adult tones, next level toilet humour and occasional dark humour thrown in it'll always be 'sold separately'. Bar maybe a brief crossover cameo... wouldn't surprise me to him in Avengers 4.
