Upgrade - Futuristic revenge film with a good twist. Extra points for being quite violent. Also a Pontiac Trans Am and a lovely Dodge Challenger
8/10
Enjoyed this, definitely.8/10
Loophole - Martin Sheen joins Albert Finney, Jonathan Pryce and a few other recognisable faces to do a bank vault job in central London in the 1980s. It's been on one of the higher up Freeview channels recently. Not a bad film, all in all, though some terrible pain acting from a guy who looks a bit like Paul Whitehouse but isn't, when he gets injured by some random gas in the sewer. Unusual ending, too.

Kiss The Girls - 1997 Morgan Freeman murder mystery/thriller.
A good mixture and odd pacing but was very watchable, there's a few bits where you can call out what's going to happen, what a character is about to do etc and it's all very predictable, but I enjoyed it. Maybe a 6/10, maybe a 7/10, maybe a 5! A fine watch though.

Timecrimes - or Los cronocrímenes 2007
Recently re-watched this, a great little film. Obviously didn't have much budget but it didn't stop them from creating something much better than most Hollywood films
There are alot of similar films out there but this is probably my favourite of the bunch

Close my Eyes, Clive Owen, Saskia Reeves, and Alan Rickman 1991.
Owen and Reeves are brother and sister, Reeves eventually marries Rickman, but somehow, perhaps via some repressed feelings growing up, Reeves is suddenly all over Owen, (her brother), like a cheap suit.
They bang each other’s brains out, in all manner of scenarios, the nude scenes leave nothing to the imagination, Owen is hung like a respectable pony, and Brazilian pube cuts have never entered Reeves’ mind.

A crowd funded feature film based on this proof of concept short film - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqO90q0WZ0M
We backed it so and paid to attend the screening this evening. Very enjoyable and the film was great too. Had to sign an NDA as the film isn't being distributed yet but it was very good and I'd recommend going to watch it if you can.

The History of Time Travel
Available on Amazon Prime, this is a "fictional documentary" presented in the style of talking head interviews interspersed with stock footage, with narration voiceover, about the creation of the world's first time machine, those who created it, and the unintended ramifications it has on world events, during the period of WW2 to present.
I enjoyed how it was totally dead pan, and how at one point you are thinking "wait... what?" before you start to get a handle on what is going on.
It would probably be spoilery to say much more than that (I did write more, but went back and deleted it).
The film was a little slow despite being only 71 mins long, and may not be to most tastes, but I quite enjoyed it.

Is it actually about time travel?Available on Amazon Prime, this is a "fictional documentary" presented in a talking head interview / stock footage with narration style.

At least give us a hint as to it's genre. Sci fi, rom com, thriller? Don't want to watch a short film to get the basics.A crowd funded feature film based on this proof of concept short film - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqO90q0WZ0M

Over the years I've seen a few movies starring Jack Nicholson, "The Shining," "Witches of Eastwick," "A Few Good Men" but never really appreciated his talents until I recently viewed "As Good as it Gets." Now I have a list of his work I want to see, this included "The Passenger." But in this, although liking Jack's performance I wasn't overly impressed with the directorial talents of Michaelangelo Antonioni. Do I hear cries of shock, horror from other movie buffs here? Perhaps I'm just not tuned in enough? I watched The Passenger several times before I even started to appreciate the nuances of the plot. I'm still looking forward to my next Jack Nicholson movies, but I fear it will be a very long time before I watch any more offerings from Mr. Antonioni.
Talking of Nicholson, I saw Batman last night. Vue were showing Burton's version as a tribute to its 30 year anniversary. (30 years!) and it's always good to revisit an old friend on the big screen.
Watching it today with the weary eye of 2019 it all seemed very calm. I recall Nicholson's Joker being a completely over-the-top character but time has dulled the impact somewhat. Still bonkers, still colourful, still entertaining, but for some intangible reason, incomplete.
This might suggest I didn't enjoy the movie, but in truth I loved the nostalgia of a chance to see it again.
8 out of 10 town enemas.
