American Beauty.

How hadn’t I seen this before? Brilliant film.
I agree. It’s a genuine classic. It’s such a shame Spacey’s career is over, he was the best screen actor of his generation.

I watched The Day of the Jackal last night, for the first time in several years. What an absolutely superb film. That gorgeous little Alfa Giulietta spider cloud9

Just watched Gladiator again.
Still amazing.
Really? The Russell Crowe thing? I thought that was garbage.

Speaking of Garbage, I just sat through Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer for no good reason.

Well, apart from Jessica Alba cloud9

The Accountant on Netflix...

Combination of Rain Main/Law Abiding Citizen, best film I've watched in a long time.

8.5/10

Finally watching Dunkirk tonight in a bit.

Is it true in the cinema version they had a clock counting down?
Nope.

The score had a ticking sound that went through the whole film gradually getting louder.

Johnny English 3

Don’t care giggled all way through.

Not as good as first two but still enjoyed it.
The fact you say it isn't as good as the first two does not set a sufficiently high bar to entice me...

Good you enjoyed it though man, everyone is different

An average of 8.5 by 1.2m people on IMDB shows you in the minority smile

It is a shame. He is one of my favourite actors. Brilliant in House of Cards imo.
I’m unsure if he was done for before the recent dropped charges but there may be some change of seeing him again in the future.

Alita: Battle Angel

I watched this on a recent plane trip to the States and really liked it, so much so that I bought it on Blu-Ray when I got back (must buy a 4k player!). On the big screen and with decent sound it is amazing. Story isn't the most challenging but it's a technological masterpiece for what they managed to achieve.

Great entertainment - 8/10

Horrible Histories - They wanted to make a Monty Python film but with more fart jokes.

It was actually quite amusing laughed out loud a few times and the kids enjoyed it. Needed more people or some CGI to make it visually more impressive (there looked to be about 50 people in Boudicca's army not 100k). Which made it feel cheaper than even the BBC series.
Worth watching though. 7/10

I watched 'The Con is On' on a plane over the weekend.

Jesus what a load of crap. Even Uma Thurman, Alice Eve, Maggie Q and Parker Posey all looking pretty hot in it couldn't come close to saving it.

Went to see The Lion King last night. Timon and Pumbaa basically stole the entire show with their banter. Overall it was very good but I don't think it'll ever top the original. 7.5/10
I think we might go tonight. I had a look on IMDb and its around 7/10 but looking at their reviews there are none over 5! Most are 1-3 advising to stay away.

Pretty much all the reviews that I've read have said that it is basically a beat-for-beat, note-for-note, frame-by-frame remake of the animated original, but which somehow manages to lose a lot of the charm and fun of the original, and ask why it was made other than to net Disney loads of dosh.

Make of that what you will.

As ever, there is a Pitch Meeting for it. Because posting links to Pitch Meeting is TIGHT

Sunshine Cleaning

A nice little midweek film to take your mind of this weeks headlines.

Two sisters in dead-end jobs start a little business cleaning up crime scenes.

Lots of problems surrounding their lives as well as being thrown in at the deep end in their new venture.

Doesn't sound too interesting but actually a lovely little film that kept me entertained to the end.

Far better than most other dross you find on Netflix or Prime!

7.3 missing fingers/10 corpses.
Watched this last night. I think your comments and score sum it up nicely.

Au contraire - was rather disappointed as an opportunity for a deeper story line was missed.
Much preferred the Walter Presents ( Argentinian ) version.
