I sat through Holmes and Watson. I doubt I’ve seen a worse film, it’s shockingly bad.
Have you seen the Philadelphia Experiment on Prime?! Not the old one, there's a new TV one. I knew it was going to be dreadful from the off but for some unknown reason I persisted.Nobody make the same mistake! Avoid!

Oblivion
Started watching late last night and was sort of enjoying it in a slow sort of way. Got about 2/3rds the way through and it started getting silly, (In my opinion).
Life is too short so switched it off!

Fair enough. Each to their own, and all that. But I thought that was when it started getting interesting as a story. Started watching late last night and was sort of enjoying it in a slow sort of way. Got about 2/3rds the way through and it started getting silly, (In my opinion).

Yes, there were some rather glaring plot holes and the action sequences were a bit wonky and I don't think Jaime Lannister (ok, ok, actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) contributed much but that 66% (or thereabouts) that you watched was the setup for the rest of the film.

As a Cruise vehicle, I prefer something like, Collateral, more involving imho.
John wick 3
Yes we know he’s going to kill a bunch of people. The thing for me is the ever expanding and inventive ways they do it.
The fight choreography is amazing, Keanu's physical fitness must be impressive I’d be fked after 10 seconds.
Love the characters and the lore the film builds. That Japanese guy had me laughing out loud and dogs were great.

I'm going to perhaps go against the flow here a bit and say that I thought the fight stuff was getting a bit 'forced' in this one.Yes we know he’s going to kill a bunch of people. The thing for me is the ever expanding and inventive ways they do it.

The first baddie in the Library? Obviously chosen for his physical attributes but not his action acting - there were also many times where you could see people hanging back or hesitating just very slightly to meet their mark to move in. Didn't notice it in the previous two.

I tried to watch bad times at the el royale last night. The stream dropped about 45 minutes in and I can't say I did anything to rectify it. Turned it off and watched a few YouTube videos instead. Very weird movie but just not gripping or intriguing enough to sit through it.
I really enjoyed this little gem. I'd never heard of it before it popped up on Sky Movies. It started a bit slow I grant you but, gathered pace as it went along. Interesting characters, proper film noir setting in the shape of an isolated motel on a stormy night. Most importantly, a decent script, which was done justice by a very capable cast.

The Witch. Definition of a marmite film, but I love the atmosphere and constant feeling of dread. Something else I really liked is that it would have been so easy just to make the parents fire and brimstone fanatics, but they end up far more layered than that. I'm also a fan of the theory that it's all just starvation-induced hysteria.
We thought it was fking awful. Long drawn out and depressing all the way with no witch in sight. We told our friends who then watched it(!!!) and came to same conclusion. Frimley111R said:

She does, yes.
Another film of that vintage with her in it is Split Second, which is a bit of an Alien b-movie starring Rutger Hauer but I have quite a soft spot for it.
So i watched it. Bit of a B movie is an understatement of epic proportions. This is one seriously bad film Another film of that vintage with her in it is Split Second, which is a bit of an Alien b-movie starring Rutger Hauer but I have quite a soft spot for it.
Kim still looks lovely though.

Assassination Nation
Span the roulette wheel of films to to watch last night and ended up with this. Didn't know anything about it.
It starts off a bit aimless, following four young girls (well, one trans) who are a bit annoying while doing tedious, cliched young people party stuff.
I was starting to lose interest but it found a gear and and then started to become interesting. It's basically a satire on online culture and the brutal way we treat each other - particularly young girls - online. The hypocrisy of how we react so aggressively on the news of people doing naughty stuff, ignoring the fact it's the same kind of st most people get up to behind closed doors.
There's some cool cinematography, especially one scene with a single-shot moving all around outside a house looking in.
Apparently it's a feminist film, although that seems a little undermined by the endless close-ups and slow-motion shots of scantily clad girls
Anyway, I thought it was pretty good and worth a watch.
