Tron Legacy just finishing up on BBC2.
Wow! Forgotten what a stunning film it is.

Even the de-aging CGI seems better than the current use stuff.

Olivia Wilde is also extremely easy on the eye.

The only main flaw is the kid that pays the son isn't the greatest of actors.
It's a superb film, and also one of the best examples of a "soft reboot" done well. It's a worthy sequel for us fans of the original, whilst being an effective remake for those that haven't seen the original.

Damn shame that Disney canned the follow-up film. frown

Jumanji: The Next Level

Enjoyable enough but for me nowhere near as fun as the last one. It takes a while to get going and Kevin Hart aside I don't think the new swaps work as well this time.
Pretty much my take on it too, watched it yesterday with my kids and they both preferred the previous one.

I remember the reviews when it came out being a bit weird. A real mix. Some fanboys simply wouldn't be happy with anything, some simply didn't understand it because they weren't that invested in the original, and thankfully lots that appreciated it.

What struck me watching just now is that it's getting better with age! It demands multiple watches as there are so many clever touches that make it a Digital World inhabited by human forms, and the more you watch, the more they become apparent and the world becomes a more real version of itself.

Wicked soundtrack too. Daft Punk were/are brilliant.

Watched it yesterday too. Haven't seen the documentary, but this is a doctor's and nurses injury analysis of the film. In short, they would be dead or a vegetable several times over hehe

when one looks at it in 2019 eyes, it does look insane. Makes me wonder how pissweak the remake will be
Love the first comment - 'Home Alone is like Saw for kids'. Too true laugh

Weirdly seems hated on this website but I have a special fondness of Tron:legacy. As everyone mentions also the soundtrack is truly epic.

I recently rewatched 'Lone Survivor' on Netflix.
I've seen it many times, but it still delivers,IMHO.
I love that they gave Marcus Lutterel an extended cameo and the BUDS footage at the start is fantastic.
Had a bit of grit in my eye during the closing credits though. frowncry

agree on the soundtrack - superb.

not sure about that deaging stuff - young Flynn at the start - his mouth was pretty rigid - CLU version was ok as you expect he looks a bit cgi as he's a digital creation - personally the kid lets it down with a single facial expression that spanned the entire movie - also , personally i think they could have dropped the whole ISO plot as it was never given any time/development in the movie, and just had her as an "advanced AI program" similar to the original TRON - other than that is is always super watchable - such a shame they canned any follow ups....

there is also a highly rated animated series (1 season) , it also got canned as Disney bought Lucasfilm and effectivley dropped TRON in the dead water - Bruce B. had a really angry rant about Disney and their treatment of TRON and said he'd not be up to work for them again (IIRC)

Cannonball Run II

Recorded off ITV4 the other night.

Some of the stunts have aged well. The script and acting have not.

Knives Out

A very average use of a couple of hours. Absolutely fine if you haven’t got anything better to do. Not offensive, not totally boring, just a whodunnit with a lot of well-known actors in it.

6.5 slit throats/10 overdoses
I’d agree. (I was keeping out of the way of our cleaner who has taken to Bible bashing me and laying on hands since I’ve had to take time off following an operation. )

I then went to see Motherless Brooklyn by and with Edward Norton. It is the best film I’ve seen in years. Beautifully shot, good plot, uniformly good acting, great period evocation and wonderful jazz (bebop) score. Not a duff note in it. I went back with my wife to see it again.

Just a low key, intelligent film. With good acting by Alec Baldwin, Bruce Willis, Willem Dafoe and Gugu wosserface apart from Norton himself.

Yeah garbage, wasn’t keen on Split much. A trilogy with only 1 good film in it.
