Films I watched this week (Vol 2)
Discussion
Parasite (2019).
Few films stick in your memory. Few films leave a lasting impression after you’ve watched them. Midsommar left an impression on me (jarring) recently, as did The Lighthouse, but not much else.
This one I heartily recommend.

Just watched "Highwaymen" on Netflix.
Great film.
It looked appalling from the trailer!Great film.
8/10 for me.
Even if they made stuff up about the rangers. Rest seems pretty accurate.

It’s a very good film, do sensible people really use trailers to determine what film to watch, rather than reviews, word of mouth or even here?

Lost in translation. A brilliantly passive movie.
8.5 Japanese whiskeys out of 10
Agree. It’s one of the very few films that properly captures the grim experience of international business travel IMHO. Most make it look cool and glam a la James Bond. Or maybe I’ve just been in the wrong jobs... 8.5 Japanese whiskeys out of 10

On the plus side, Parasite gets a full nationwide release next week apparently.
Can't wait to see this again and will be great on the big screen. A superb and highly recommended 10/10 movie.
Trailers have their place and give people an idea of what the film is about.
For instance, I saw the trailer for little women at the cinema where I thought this definitely was not a film for me. My wife went to watch it with two friends and concluded it was rubbish so it was a good call!
Trailers are far too long nowadays. Filmmakers tend to put all the good bits into those two minutes.
Generally, if it’s a film that I am interested in and I decide to watch the trailer, I usually switch it off before halfway through so as not to spoil the film but still to get the taste of what it is all about.

I actively avoid trailers now, where possible*, as they are usually chocked full of spoilers. (* - obviously you can't avoid trailers in the cinema. But I don't go to the cinema that much)

Just noticed that "Hidden Figures" is on CH4 tonight at 9pm.
Based on the positive feedback I read on here, I give it a watch
Me too. Looks good.Based on the positive feedback I read on here, I give it a watch
Films that illustrate the absurdity and injustice of racial segregation tend to be well done these days. It's not that long ago we had such prominent westernised countries practicing such nonsense.

It's not you, travelling for work is a necessary evil where all I tend to see is the airport and the hotel with long workdays in between.
