Enjoyed it not sure why, probably just because space and pacing. He sure is one unlucky chap. Actuall he’s lucky every fker else though.

6 that ain’t rights out of 10 physics wtf
Watched it last night and started to realise it was Apocalypse Now in space, but turned out not to be.

Thought it was OK, held my interest but ultimately it was quite depressing.
fk me, what a dreary pile of ste, with some poisonous monkeys thrown in for no reason. Made it through an hour, and then binned it.
Yep binned off after an hour or so too. The monkeys. Wtf point in that. Dull film.

They have a rocket to take you to the moon, but you have to drive across the lunar surface in beach buggies to get to where you are going. And there are moon pirates. In buggies.
I’m with the haters.
Total crock of poo.

'Midway' on Amazon Prime.

Its like the director wanted to make a new superhero movie instead. WW2, the Marvel version.

Disappointing.
A couple of weeks ago I watched on a history channel (with actual footage) the battle of Midway, that was brilliant.
Yesterday afternoon I watched Amazons Midway, amateurish.
Watched Free Solo in the evening, even herself sits mesmerised, that made up for the earlier cgi fest.

Passengers on Film 4.

I always approach films set in space with the fear that it's going to be another Event bks. Thankfully this turned out not to be, it didn't go mental at any stage. I quite enjoyed it and OMG it had a decent ending. A solid 7/10.

Heads up for "Three Billboards" on Channel 4 at 9:15pm.
Great film I shall be watching again.
I tried it one more time

I must see films differently to critics, in this film I see plenty bleakness, violence and anger but see very little
as claimed by one reviewer "compassion, hope and decency" from any character.

I'm told it's a dark comedy, so maybe I'm not getting that vibe, taking it too serious and all.

I think it's a beautifully told story, but no, it's not uplifting.

Last night I watched the original Psycho.

After taking a few mins to adjust to it being in black and white I was completely sucked in.

It's true what the critics say Hitchcock is a master of suspense. Loved the fact I was so focused on the "money" intially. Plenty of modern day horrors wouldn't make me tense like this did.

He really was. Even his films from the early ‘30s have a way of building tension. He seemed to get better over the years.

Apparently Janet Leigh was one of the biggest names in Hollywood at the time, and she was marketed as the star. I can’t imagine what it would have been like for audiences at the time when she was murdered. That kind of thing never happened.

I haven't seen it in years, but my feeling was that it peaks at the shower scene and rather wanders after that.

I tend to prefer his 40/50s films.

I warched a film about a jaded hitman last night, Hitman Redemption. It got pretty dreadful reviews but I iike its star, Ron Perlmann so much I watched it anyway and enjoyed it. Yes, a bit formulaic and no, nothing groundbreaking, but it avoids all the glitzy clichés this type of film usually has, is languid in its pacing and has a decebt soundtrack. OK, 6 out of 10 at best but worth a watch id say.

Hitch used his TV crew for shooting the movie. They were used to quick set-ups fewer takes and with outstanding results that this movie brilliantly shows. The monochrome photography adds to the overall feel of the film and the times it represents.
The money and the shower scene 'The MacGuffin' as Hitch called them, was only the end, and the beginning, of this superior film, which from then on proceded to grip the viewer with a tension rarely surpassed since.

It still grabs me tightly today even after seeing it dozens of times.

My father took me to see the original War of the Worlds back in the late 60s. Psycho was the B film and was a real edge of seat experience for me at 14/15, (I have no idea why my father thought it was a good thing to take me to these films which were 18 rated). I don't think I turned the lights out for a couple of weeks after that!

My Own Private Idaho (1991) DVD

Down & out in '90's Seattle as narcolepsy afflicted street hustler and his rebellious mate embark on a quest to find his absent mother & themselves.

Odd one this, probably controversial at the time of release (I can't remember), now most noticeable for how good River Phoenix was. Beautifully filmed, but odd Shakespearean bits with street king "Bob" jar. Features a cool Norton Commando 750.

Thought it was like a film version of game Battleships, much better than the actual Battleships movie based on the game.

All I kept thinking throughout though was why does he keep wasting food.

Short and some of it was bit all over the place, overall decent 6/10
Watched this last night. It had me hooked (as in not looking at my phone) all the way through. Not sure whether it would have worked with anybody other than TH in the lead though.

I'd go 7.25/10 not great, but a good watch.

Don't know, the scene where private eye questions Bates is a masterclass in shooting a two hander, plus the
two method actors were on top form, Perkins chewing gum [ popcorn? ] was his idea, Hitch didn't care for
deviating from script but he liked it and kept it in the scene

Bad Education

Now, here we have a most unprepossessing little story. OK, so it was grafted from truth. And elements which all seem to add for a lowly, yawn-fest that you might never expect to be worthwhile.

But I have to say, a damn fine job at directing and some good actors, putting in very believable performances and very close attention to detail, and with only a light sprinkling of dark comedy hidden behind some charm, can all pull something out of the hat. Jackman at his sublimest.

So, I believe IMDB have it at a 7.1.... I might even go so far as an 8...... well, no, probably only a 7.5. But, still, there are worse ways to pass the time. And when the credits rolled, there was a little error cited in the case of the real life events which made me roar with laughter....

Just watched this and thought it very good. yes When people talk of subverting a trope I usually roll my eyes, but this is exactly how it should be done. It's a great self-contained story.
