Not forgetting their crazy interpretation of csrs of the future.
I wonder what happened to Straker's car. It was up for sale in the 90s.
I think it's being restored and the other one driven by Paul Foster also survives somewhere.I wonder what happened to Straker's car. It was up for sale in the 90s.
Great series, still enjoy watching it occasionally. Best theme tune Barry Grey ever wrote too.
Any excuse to post a pic of Anouska Hempel is fine by me...
Apologies for the image overload but everything about the show was a visual treat...
In a forest just outside Slough...
Jim Bergerac's missus gets brainwashed in a later episode...
Watched them all recently on the Forces TV channel.
Surprising how mundane some episodes are with next to no alien activity in them at all and how dark some of them were.
Also funny seeing Steven Berkoff as an Interceptor pilot and George Cole popping up in one episode in his futuristic suit.
Annoyed me though that they were supposed to be in the UK but they drove on the wrong side of the road.

Always made me chuckle that the aliens only ever seemed to invade the home counties! Some episodes are very slow but overall the tone was very dark with some genuinely scary moments depending on your age when you first watched them. The episode where Paul foster is forced to wear the alien suit with the green liquid inside the helmet gave me nightmares as a nipper.
I had the Dinky Shado Mobile and Interceptor at the time, passed on to my kid brother who wrecked them. Never forgiven him!

Not mine but there are some nice models around if you can find them...
I mentioned this in the Movie Cars thread, one of the transports was rescued from abroad and restored... the late George Sewell in the front passenger seat...
Anal trivia alert - often wondered if the wheels trims on Ed Straker's car were modified Rover P6 3500S items, but it was filmed in 1969 and 70 and the trims weren't offered on the P6 until late '71...

It was very "grown up" compared to the previous Gerry Anderson series. He had got pretty fed up with the whole "puppet thing" and wanted to get into real film making with real people. Unkind critics at the time said that the acting in "UFO" was more wooden than in the puppet series.
Looking back on it now, however, it stands up quite well.
I watched it "in period" and was impressed with all the models (both spacecraft and the female occupants of the moon base and the submarine).

Been recording The Protectors recently (early morning ITV4) and never realised that was produced by Gerry Anderson. It's pretty poor to be honest but worth watching for the Countessa's SM and Harry's Interceptor.
If you were of that era you may be interested to see a remake on Netflix coming in April.
I used to watch Lost in Space every Thursday and am really looking forward to this.

Straker's car found and although in poor condition the owner would sell, but allowed them to take a mould of the body and Edd China is helping to build it.
