Considering it was made in 1969 it's stood up really well. It always impressed me how prolific Anderson was, in the space of about five or six years he gave us Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, Joe 90, UFO, Secret Service and the feature Film Journey To The Far Side Of the Sun.

I know Wanda Ventham (AKA Rodney Trotter's mother in law and Sherlock's mum) was in it, pretty sure this is her.

Spurred on by this thread, I just watched a couple of episodes on YouTube. Strange that they thought everyone would still smoke - and why didn't they make those doors taller?

Been recording The Protectors recently (early morning ITV4) and never realised that was produced by Gerry Anderson.

It's pretty poor to be honest but worth watching for the Countessa's SM and Harry's Interceptor. hehe
I think that my wife is not very happy with you, I've just started watching this really cheesy.... but I do like it!

There's no plot or story it's just a half hour fashion show.

I'm amazed it even got made at all. Lew Grade wanted a second series of 'The Persuaders' but our Rodge got the nod for the Bond role in '72, 'The Adventurer' was made that year but was much worse than 'The Protectors'. It looks like ITC may have been having problems at the time, the first episode of 'The Protectors' took almost eighteen months to air. In hindsight it would have been better with half as many hour long episodes instead. I do like it though.

Just watched the first episode on YouTube. I think it stands the test of time. No wonder I was an avid viewer as a kid.

The building they used as the SHADO headquarters is now used as Holby City Hospital.

It’s called Neptune House.
Probably somewhere near Elstree where it’s all filmed nowadays.

Right next door to Albert Square. You can have a good look around in 3D on Google maps/Apple maps.

Wanda Vantham was brilliant, especially in the episode " TImelash " which looks like something Jonathan and Christopher Nolan could have written.
The Red Dress appeared three or four times suggesting Gerry Anderson had an eye for, er, value.
On one of those appearances it adorned Susan Jameson (Mrs James Bolam)

Enjoyed that. Thanks.

Captain Scarlet is, for some reason, most memorable for me.... brought back memories of a more innocent time.

Another part of Elstree was used in 'UFO' as a hospital in one episode, I forget which one...

Same place Tony Curtis had his new Interceptor delivered too while he was working on 'The Persuaders!'...

Jensen brought their demonstrator down to Elstree to let Curtis use before ordering his own car...
