Good luck to Simon... I'm not sure a classical radio station will catch on, despite the names being hired. Let's see.

In the same context, anyone listening to Sarah Cox?
Yep, loving it. IMHO she's doing a pretty good job. Very easy to listen too.

I'm not; can't stand her inane banter.

Funnily enough went into my wives car the other day and noticed that the radio station had changed to Virgin. I asked her why; she can't stand Sarah Cox, and would only really listed to Chris Evans on the way to work and Simon Mayo on the way back. Now those two have gone R2 offers her nothing.

Viewing figures might be interesting whenever they come out, I'm now a Virgin listener, never tuned in before.

Classical isn't my bag but I can see it suiting Simon well.

Was great to hear Jo back to doing what she does best last night.

Totally agree. Really enjoy having her evening show back.

I'm now on Virgin for the breakfast show. Just need to find a decent drive time.

Listened to Whiley the other day, she's sounds more comfortable now that she's back in her ivory tower.

Johnnie Walker is the best dj on Radio 2, in fact he must be up with one of the best dj's ever.
For some reason the BBC about 25 years ago decided they must employ people with broad regional accents at the detriment of quality.
What quality? Walker can barely speak.

what will be interesting is to see how Jo and Zoe get on on their own.

evans had his crew that were as much a part of the show as the previous drivetime crew with simon. Simon and Jo together didn't work for me but probably because I had listed to simon for years and just didn't like the change.

if the personalities work I think two presenters is better than one as it just adds variety and its less likely to get tired as a delivery format than with one presenter.

Jo has been on her own in the evenings banging on about the manics for years - tried and tested format, and Zoe has a crew, non?

What an odd comment about someone who is paid to speak for a living. JW is a consummate music broadcaster. Knowledgeable, laid-back, doesn't cram his opinions down your throat and has a genuine enthusiasm for his subject. And we don't get to hear about what his family members get up to every 5 minutes.

Or have to listen to them doing segments of the show.

+1 about JW BTW. A master at his craft.

I quite like JW, but his sounds of the seventies show doesnt really cover the gamut of 70's music. It seems to be 70% west coast USA stuff with a little glam, disco and post punk thrown in to make up the numbers.

+3 for Jonnie Walker, I loved his radio program in the evening as I was driving home.

Have you tried the BBC sounds App - works rather well I think.

Use it all the time.

However, listening to radio is also bit like having a regular date - same time, same channel. Sometimes, listening to programmes at their appointed broadcast time is more satisfying. It's a kind of a ritual - and rituals are important in life.

It helps me get through the day.

I've done exactly the same. Used to love R2 for commute but now switched to Virgin on way to work and Talksport/Spotify on way back.
