So, here we go......not long now.

Surely it’s Toyotas to lose out front with Alonso set to start the race from pole.

Further back will Aston Martin show anything in 2018 given their reported low top speed and poor qualifying result.

Just read about the BoP being adjusted for Ford and the many 911 RSRs.

Porsche look strong having 10 cars and qualifying top in pro and am.

I have a sneaky feeling that both of the Toyotas are going to encounter issues and we may have a Rebellion winner.

Doing the beer and snacks run after warm up. I don't think Alonso will take the start. Toyota will want their normal drivers dealing with the carnage of the opening laps, and when they catch the tail of the field. If they are leading at the end then he'll definitely take the flag.

Eurosport guys reporting Buemi starting the car...
mind you, Eurosport commentators usually wrong.

Surely the only way that Toyota can't win is reliability? They have no competition this year, and I don't mean they are racing against uncompetitive cars, I mean there is no competition. What is the point of that?

From the BBC;

"Toyota are effectively without direct opposition at Le Mans this year because they are the only team racing in the leading LMP1 hybrid class, following the withdrawal at the end of last season of champions Porsche.

The other LMP1 cars, which are not hybrids and are run by privateer teams, have a series of handicaps laid out in the rules.

They are not allowed to lap faster the Toyotas, and if they do, they are called in to the pits for a drive-through penalty. Hybrids can do 11 laps between fuel stops and non-hybrids only 10 and hybrids have a minimum pit-stop time five seconds shorter than the non-hybrids.

That effectively means a Toyota will probably win unless both cars hit reliability problems, which are common in such a demanding and gruelling race."

If they win, then it is a hollow victory, if they don't win because they break down then massive loss of face.

You may well be right, after all it was Eurosport who said Alonso would be starting too confused

Luckily there are some battles away from LMP1 further down the field.

Tempted to drink for Yorkshire and have a pint on the hour, every hour, that the ginettas are running. I might be going to bed very sober, or be spending tomorrow very hungover.

As long as one of the 911 rsr's to win PRO & AM i'll be happy. Anything that sounds this good deserves to win, they drown everything out and as my lad described sound like very angry T-Rex's

I hope the Toyota's break down early to make it interesting up front.

I hope that Toyota make it this time. They've been trying on and off for 20 years and they are the only manufacturing team bothering to participate this year.

There will be ace racing in the other three classes which should make up for the possible procession at the front.

Can't make the race this year so watching on TV.

Love to see the Toyota's finally win after the last two years.

Corvettes mainly for me though; although looking off the pace - thought that last year though & they almost did it.

Those Porsches do look great. Suspect they are going to very strong this year.
