Just got back from watching, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Matt Damon was great and Christian Bale was superb. He didn’t overdo the Brummie accent but played the part with humour and passion.
The racing scenes were really good, I know it is all Hollywoodised but was great entertainment.
Very emotional ending.
9/10 for me.

Agree with the comments above. Took the family Sunday afternoon as it was the last day to catch it at our local Cineworld. Great acting (especially Christian Bale & the guy that played Henry Ford II. Excellent photography- loved the nighttime scene the night before the Le Mans race, in the rain.
Glad to have caught it on the big screen - it won’t be quite the same on the TV at home!

Obviously a big budget film with superb set of the Le Mans pits straight.

But on the whole I would say about a 7 out of 10 for a Petrolhead.
At the time, we used to get the start and finish with Raymond Baxter on the BBC, I do remember the 3 cars lining up on the Mulsanne straight and finishing abreast. I thought it a great result for the UK spending Ford’s cash - a bit like the Cosworth DFV.
Obviously a big budget film with superb set of the Le Mans pits straight.

I see a lot of praise for "24 Hour War" on Netflix and I watched it yesterday.
It's an interesting watch for anyone who's interested in the back story for the film, but I was shocked to see that something people complain about being glossed over in the film was totally ignored in the documentary!
There is ZERO mention of Lola's involvement in the early development of the GT40 - This isn't an oversight in a documentary, it's a rewriting of history!

I'm half way through it at the moment. It's good, but the weird 3D stuff they've done with the photographs drives me nuts, and the obviously speeded-up footage of some of the Le Mans clips grates a bit.It's an interesting watch for anyone who's interested in the back story for the film, but I was shocked to see that something people complain about being glossed over in the film was totally ignored in the documentary!

Yes , what I have noticed is that for those fortunate enough to be far too young to have any recall of Sixties' motorsport , they can take the film 'as is ' and enjoy a rattling good tale with some good on track action (let the tiresome Mulsanne downshifts and extra throttle moments be forgotten , ok ?) . But as my motorsport addiction had gripped me as a young teenager in the mid 60s I have very clear memories of the time - and so watching the film involved me chuntering 'what about xyz?' , 'that didn't happen' and 'FFS ' at every error . Sorry if any of you were sitting behind me . obviously It's an interesting watch for anyone who's interested in the back story for the film, but I was shocked to see that something people complain about being glossed over in the film was totally ignored in the documentary!

Finally got around to going to see this last night and loved it. Was great to bring the characters and story to life after reading 'Go Like Hell' a few years ago before my first trip to Le Mans. Just a little disappointed that there was nothing on the development of the GT40 in Blighty, but 2 1/2 hours was long enough!
I'm expecting a bumper turn out at Le Mans Classic now next year – how could you not want to go after watching that film?!

Bale’s accent is very well done and doesn’t become irritating like attempts at anything North of Watford in some other films. Matt Damon adds some real weight to every scene and seems to be growing in to a very serious actor now Bourne is dead.
Felt the racing scenes were well done (better than Rush, that’s for sure) although bits of it just looked......odd. Almost as if it was all 80s-era Spielberg stop-motion.
The only spoiler was the Fast and Furiois gear changes and the various drivers pulling alongside and looking knowingl/menacingly (delete as applicable) across at a driver in an adjacent car.
Maybe just a tad too long as well.

DVD is out early next year. It will be the first film I've bought in years - and I'll certainly be watching it prior to heading off to the Goodwood Revival. I'm expecting a bumper turn out at Le Mans Classic now next year – how could you not want to go after watching that film?!

Well its lockdown and we have Rakuten TV vouchers from Vitality, so Ive finally got round to watching this. It was enjoyable enough to keep my wife entertained for over 2 hrs and googling/wiki to find out more about Miles before the end...

Old thread but made the mistake of finally getting to watch this on 4K in the home cinema. That Atmos soundtrack has got me dying to get back out there on track, but stuck at home now. Does a spirited drive count as daily exercise?
And just remember, if you can't stay with the guy in front down the straight, just change down and floor it ..

Not sure where I stand on the factual inaccuracies. Watching it only having a sketch knowledge of the topic I of course didn't know about them and some of the fiction introduced, like Miles remaining behind in 1965 and listening on the radio, led to some of the best scenes.
If this were a war movie I would probably be annoyed but less so here because I knew very little beyond a segment on GT/TG.
The cars look great, the sets look great and there is some talent involved. Bale also gave a great tribute to the man as well IMO.
So yes there are inaccuracies and magic gear changes but a very good movie IMO and this seems to be a time for driving movies as we recently had Rush as well.
The wife loved it too.

Finally saw this (on a plane, so not the best cinematographic experience) but enjoyed it. Impressed by Bale’s accent and thinned-down face. Yes the downshift-and-floor-it bits were silly, but overall it was very well done. They could have easily made Ken Miles a good old American boy, so kudos that they kept the Brit angle. I want a Cobra now.
