It’s about the best dancer irrespective of their background or innate ability.
Well it's never been that has it?It seems to be following the same path as other series albeit without the joke Widdicome type character this time.
The good dancers (Ashley, Faye) are guaranteed to get to the final as the Judges will vote for them in any Dance Off (which is a mini dancing competition of sorts).
However the winner needs the public vote and the bias against "proven dancers" evidenced in this thread means they will lose a tranche of votes so will be unlikely to actually win.
In contrast those with a "story", a likeable personality, a marked improvement in dancing ability and a following who will actually vote for them will do well. (See Aby Clancy v Denise Van Outen)
So I reckon it will be close between Stacey and Joe for the top 2. Difficult to call not knowing how many of Joe's online following vote but I think he will win it.
As an aside I've enjoyed the effect the programme has had on Charles. He started as an arrogant tosser, hence in the Dance Off despite being a pretty decent dancer. However, after a few goes at that he seems to have been somewhat humbled and seems a much nicer bloke for it. Probably not enough of a turnaround to make it through to the final though.
Every year there's debate on the scoring system but I am baffled how someone can go from top with the extra hoppything dance to bottom (or bottom but one). They show where the judges rank the dancers but never show how the public ranked the dancers. I assume they take votes and convert it into a ranking and score from 1 to however many dancers are left so even if she scored 1 from the public surely with the extra hippythong points Ashley could not be in the bottom two?
