I think you'll see Ashley in the DO again.
It will very much depend on the maths; one of the reasons she was in the DO last week was because there was two equal judges scores which because of the way strictly points scores the scoreboard meant the lowest judge-scored couple got three points and the top judge-scored couple got six points. If all the judges scores were different there would less chance of a higher scored couple being in the DO once the peoples scores were added.Clockwork Cupcake said:

The power of the DM over the easily influenced public is amazing.
I agree. It's really rather frightening in fact. Not with regards to something as trivial as Strictly, I mean in the wider sense of the power & influence they wield over some sections of the public.
Anyhoo, back on topic, looking forward to Saturday and who’ll be in the dance off
I’m not sure why the slebs seem to make such a big thing of being in the dance off. If you’re in it because you were at the bottom of the leaderboard then you’ve surely got to expect that, but if you’re in it when you’re high up the leaderboard then it’s pretty much a given the judges will save you because it was them that put you high up the leaderboard in the first place.
After watching ITT this week I’d guess at Joe and Lauren being in this week’s DO with Joe going through. Can’t remember how the final works: is it four finalists then one’s dropped part way through? If so we might see Ashley go then. Still hoping for a Faye win with Stacey as runner up.

Interesting article on the BBC website about Ashley on Strictly.

Presumably if Darcy give-up judging to take part it would be possible to claim her legitimacy to the title because she has never danced the Vienese, Tango and Jive before.
Actually, this is as good a point as any to mention something that has been bugging me for a while now. When the judges are introduced each week, Craig comes on and does a twirl or two, Bruno cuts a few moves, Shirley moves with grace, and Darcy... she looks like she has never danced in her life. She sashays a bit, but if you look closely she rarely, if ever, does anything that could be construed as actual dancing.
Also, Craig is always bang on the beat for the final "dun dun dun dun DURRRRRRR" and Darcy, especially when she's spinning into Craig's arms, say, isn't. Pretty much never. Shirley is though.
Having said that, on last week's Results Show, there was a pro dance where all the judges were dancing too and Darcy did some moves in the background (easily missed) that were impressive, and were synchronised with Shirley's, but I wonder if she had been rehearsing them all week. Or if it was a body double.
I get that Darcy is a very famous ballet dancer, but I do wonder if she can actually dance at all outside of the narrow confines of ballet.

DDB was on It Takes Two the other night & said she really wanted more rehersal time for that dancing judge sequence so I guess they didn't get long to practise.
She does seem to know the technical terms for the steps in various dances & the other judges often agree with her comments so maybe it's part of ballet training. A bit like having to know how to drive a kart before you're allowed in an F1 car.

I'd say she has a wider spread of experience and dancing skill than grumpy old Len Goodman. Plus, she's lovely.I get that Darcy is a very famous ballet dancer, but I do wonder if she can actually dance at all outside of the narrow confines of ballet.
Ashley and Lauren in the dance-off, Lauren to leave for me.

You never saw Darcy Dances Hollywood then?Edited by Clockwork Cupcake on Friday 7th December 10:29
Yes, she can dance outside ballet...
Let's not forget her age - ballet must destroy bodies...
Craig has had both hips replaced iirc? Not sure if Darcy has needed repair work - but she might just be, for want of a better word, fked and far less able to move to a rhythm.
Also, isn't ballet the sort of thing where they train for months per dance/show, and perhaps aren't used to 'getting up to speed' with fairly limited rehearsal?

Her hips are shot & she had them resurfaced when she was 45. The only reason she din't have hip replacements is that's she's too young:Craig has had both hips replaced iirc?
