How important is it to replace the shafts the same way they came out? I remember watching WD when they rebuilt the Cerb and Ed talked about the historic direction of force they would of used to.....

They go through a twisting motion so yes replace them the same as when they came out.
Bend something one way it doesn’t tend to break, bend it the other and it does!

We often talk about drive shafts breaking whenever Drag Racing is mentioned but it’s fairly rare considering what we are doing with them and the extreme loads applied opon them.
It’s usually the older type that break as they have an extra groove cut out of them for a circlip to fit into, unless your Peter ( phazed) who just has too much power biggrin

If your replacing all the CV joints it probably makes little difference unless your going to be doing racing starts which you are not. Once your moving even a few mph the power is nothing like as forceful opon them.

Barry has millions of hp but I don’t think he’s broken one yet on the drag strip as he’s just got a great start technique, watch his video and you’ll see the massive grunt his cars got.
Should give you a little more confidence wink

Unless the car has been pushed hard a lot then I’d not think it makes to much difference.
If you don’t aim on Beating young Hamilton boy away from lights every morning then I’d not be worrying much. Proper mechanics will soon tell us otherwise if I’m wrong wink

It's had a pampered life up to now, so hopefully shouldn't be too much of an issue then, although that may change after it's rebuild! evil

As Alun quite rightly says, they should be reinstalled as they came out. It's all about metal fatigue. Now I guessing that you didn't label but you should be able to see chamfer marks indicating the direction of force of which they were turned.

I'm not familiar with your car but there could be witness marks from the wheels where they bolt to your shafts.
