Did anyone notice that the usual children in need 4 day call in this week which used to have Golf super Ferrari’s F1 extravaganza (Marathon) fine and disco etc.
Well yesterday and today it’s been 2 days of the O2 same reward - admittedly earning loads for Children in need but the special bits are simply missing . I guess it’s because he contractually cannot commit to anything post leaving the Beeb.

Well done to Chris Evans having raised 44 million for CIN in his 8 years on R2.
Superb effort him the team and whatever he does to engage the audience to bid and big hugely he does it in spades. Fingers crossed Zoe and the audience will do the same in future years.
My fond memories of this week is literally sitting in the car in the office car park waiting to hear the outcome of those lovely car auctions. Money in a different league to what I and most other people could do but the enjoyment of hearing it. I know for sure I’ve donated more probably than I would have otherwise down to him - well not him the kids he has on.
Anyway it will be different - seems like an era is coming to an end .
Love him or hate him he’s a car person who came from a family who were potless he got lucky done very well and appears to be having the time of his life. Loads of kids loads of cars loving the dream.

Any of those that berate and call him a talentless wker really need to have a word with themselves.
This 'Children in Need Week that he ratchets up then up to 11 is simply great. He's a good soul.

It's as simple as that.

Fearne Cotton just rambles on about her household, absolutely bores me stless.
Vanessa Feltz just sends the cringe-o-meter off the scale.
Just get Johnnie Walker to be dj 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and everything would be fine for mej.
And there you have it! Vanessa Feltz just sends the cringe-o-meter off the scale.

Give Raygun a job as controller if Radio 2. Huey Morgan can stand in for JW for meal breaks and holidays.

If you honestly think he only works for 3 hours a day creating the daily show you are hugely mistakenIt's as simple as that.
Not even worth commenting about your charity point.

Dusty houses all around the country !!
Indeed. I, along with half of PH, agree that he was crap on TopGear as it just didn't suit him and highlighted his most annoying traits. This 'Children in Need Week that he ratchets up then up to 11 is simply great. He's a good soul.

But, I'm amazed if there is anyone who's listened to more than a few minutes of the shows this week who still can't see that he's a really genuine, caring and hardworking guy. The Children in need appeals and auctions they do are amazing, incredibly heartwarming and he puts everything into making sure they raise shedloads of money. It's very emotional to listen to and he is very obviously heavily involved in it all in many ways.
There's the chap who phoned him and paid £1million for two tickets just to convince Michael Buble to play the Dine & Disco, there's the little kid Max who the entire Christmas party is now dedicated too, including Evans now driving a coach down to collect him and his family and who's family surprised them in the studio on Fri(?) etc. It's really nice and you'd have to be seriously cold-hearted, bitter or sticking to you previous opinion not to be able to see past some of his annoying traits and appreciate this stuff.
Likewise with everything to do with Carfest which goes from strength to strength and seems to be universally loved and enjoyed by those that attend whilst also raising a tonne of money.
Sure on usual shows he does sometimes waffle about his own family too much but in many ways that's what makes the show better than other people's as it becomes more personal and not just a random DJ filling gaps between the usual modern pop rubbish songs.

According to some on here anyway. You know who you are, R.

Don't you realise that he does all that for self-promotion?
Although he likes nothing better than a bit of self-promotion but in the case of Children In Need a better description would be self-interest.Next year if Zoe Ball is still doing the lucrative job I dare say she will be promoting CIN in a big way just like Evans's predecessor Wogan.

According to Private Eye he is playing the big I am at Virgin, knocking back studios offered to him and ending up being given a freshly upgraded suite that a number of poorly accommodated Talksport journos have been waiting years for.
I can't believe that,he's so humble.Back when he started out and got the job on the Big Breakfast Show he interviewed a car club, might of been Lada or Allegro club or one of them type of cars and I remember then him half taking the piss out of the bloke saying "Have you had Rod Stewart want to join your club?" (obviously RS is famous for owning Ferrari's) and I remember at the time thinking he was a then, mind you he's got a good face for radio.
