I too have abandoned R2
I find Planet Rock too repetitive for regular listening. I tend to stick it on when I clean cars. Which is not that often, works well with such a task.

He has never been my cup of tea but one thing that I did not know was that he introduced a children's short story competition. Many thousands applied each year.

I use to listen to nothing but rock music in my teens (70s/80s) but I'm afraid lots of it just seems dated now, for every good song that I hear on Planet Rock I hear 5 songs I don't and rock music I don't like I now find irritating where's if I listen to a station like SOLAR that plays soul/jazz I find is my station of choice, although I might not like every song they play I never find it annoying.
Now if Johnnie Walker was on all the time on Radio 2 that would be my preferred choice of radio stations.

Badly missed on radio 2.

Last year radio 2 raised £7.6m for children in need. This year just over £2m, half of which was Rylan’s karaoke

Chris Evans is still promoting CarFest with 50% of money raised going to BBC Children in Need. The rest going to other children's charities.

fking awful individual, even if he is raising money for a good cause. Apart from Pop Master radio 2 is a distant memory for me, Virgin, Planet Rock, much better choice

I don’t get this at all - Terry Wogan started the charity auctions on Radio 2 decades ago and Chris carried on - I’ll never forget the amazing cars start ups on the radio.
One time there was a vicar and Chris told him hop into the car and start it up , then Chris said blip the throttle and his foot got stuck / issue but he had his foot to the carpet for about 5 seconds and Chris plus others screaming take your foot off with the engine singing out (I think it was a pre electronically limited engines).

Used to be 100% to children in need.

The BBC decided to publish presenters salaries and Chris Evans got some flack because he earns more than women presenters. He went to virgin rather then suffer the annual outrage from the press.

He owns Carfest and used to give 100% of the money to children in need. It's now shared with other charities.

The BBC was trying to be woke, and ended up shooting Children in Need in the foot.
