Not seen a thread for this, last big one before Avengers 4.

Looks like it's set in the past, or at least involves a bit of time travel.

Who's in?

It's set in the 1990s.

I'll definitely give it a whirl - the MCU rarely drops the ball and I hope it's a good lead in to IW2.

The first trailer can't be too far off now.

There has already been a few teaser trailers, e.g.;

I've seen mention the first proper trailer will be within the coming weeks. But I'm happy to run with the teaser trailer above. That way I don't see much of the movie or too many clues before its release. Call me old-fashioned....

It's a fan trailer - cut together from footage from other movies and TV programs. Some scenes from Iron Man, Battle Star Galactic etc.

The only official stuff released so far are a few stills from the movie and a few earlier set stills.

Its also got Phil Coulson in.

Perhaps that line from the first Thor movie where he says "This isn't my first rodeo" was a reference to Captain Marvel and how he got involved in SHIELD.

  • edit* that was in Iron Man, wasn't it. not Thor.

It does beg the question.

Where has she been all this time?

I'm sure that question will be answered in either Captain Marvel (perhaps a post credit scene) or in IW2.

In other news - the first trailer is rumoured to be dropping sometime today (according to Good Morning America and Screen Rant)

https://screenrant.com/captain-marvel-movie-traile...

They are suggesting 9am EST (about 2pm in the UK).

Hmmm.........was looking forward to this, but honestly, i'm not feeling it. Can't put my finger on it - hopefully the next trailer will be better.

Something definitely feels off about the aesthetics. The Skrull look very 'star trek' and the underwater suits look odd. Not liking the whole 'Ben affleck's batman' vibe about her face mask - and the final shot of her powering up looks of MCU TV show quality, rather than an MCU movie (hopefully this is just a shot specific for the trailer).

Good grief, the technology nowadays to make actors look younger is getting to the point where an actor wont lose a job because of their age anymore, I can see Tom Cruse doing Mission Impossible 23 at this rate.

I'm loving the blockbuster video reference.

I used to work there in my late teens.

Damn I feel old laugh

I'm not too au fait with the Captain Marvel backstory. I assume she is top tier in terms of powers? This film is her origin story and then I assume she will feature heavily in IW2 and be instrumental in kicking Thanos's purple butt?

The end credits scene on IW would strongly suggest this is the case.

Yeah, they wouldn't have known details, but quite clearly, there was a vision right at the start. He says something like, 'you think you're the only superhero?'

she's a bit like a marvel superman, on the same par with hulk and level-up thor. She also has some esoteric powers which is where she might come in handy in the iw2. I was never a fan, when I started started reading marvel her powers had been 'stolen' by an X-man called Rogue. And the Captain Marvel I knew was completely different, who will be the daughter of this Captain Marvel's pilot buddy in this film, so I hope that means we get to see her in IW2.

the trailer was ok.

Now that you mention it I've heard the Marvel's Superman moniker before so should be a decent match for Thanos

Alot of the heroes that went up against him in IW were no threat at all to be honest. Iron Man going toe-to-toe and Captain America holding his gauntlet where nice moments for the heroes but not really feasible considering the power difference so it was about time they introduced another heavy hitter although as someone else said, where has she been all this time?

Which leads me to another question, the original Captain Marvel was male wasn't he so they've skipped that part and gone straight to the PC version.

Captain Mar-Vell was a Kree warrior, he's involved with his successor, this one. Jude Lw may play him...or a baddie. It's all in the comics from decades ago so it's not really PC, though she's had different names over the years Ms Marvel/Warbird etc.

Grace has a pretty decent shot by shot video explanation/supposition of the trailer.

And the Captain Marvel I knew was a black lady, and she's a really old character too.

Hmm perhaps I'm thinking of someone else then as I seem to remember another Superman like character in the Marvel universe so just assumed it was a male Captain Marvel.

Not that it makes any odds, I just don't want Marvel ruined with unnecessary SJW agendas like Star Wars has been.
