I've decided to not buy another ICE again, but have decided to hold off on a major purchase until the landscape develops a bit over the next year or two.

So what is the best EV currently available for 8-10k?

It would rarely travel more than 50 miles in a day.

Leaf, a 2014 / 2015 car

random example - check it isn't a leased battery if that matters to you

Leaf or Zoe I would say, or Kia Soul if you can stretch your budget a little. However, i'd personally lease an EV rather than buy, as the pace of change means the newer stuff that's coming out now is considerably better than what was available 5 years ago.

If doing circa 40 miles a day, I would be looking at a Vauxhall Ampera/Chevrolet Volt. But make sure you're near an approved specialist service site first.

See speakEv forum for more info.

Leaf 24 will do that even on the worst day/weather. Or just buy a cheap ICE and wait, there is a risk to an out of warranty EV, £'s repairs due to having to go to main dealer for repairs not that there is much to go wrong.

they are also considerably more expensive. Ive had my Leaf tekna 24kw for 3 and bit years since new, the 2yr pcp was £205pm - it was so cheap i bought it. A new 40kw tekna is nearer £400pm so just didnt make financial sense to me

Soul, Zoe and VW Up! are still available for not much over £200pm on a lease.

Renault Twizzy can be had for less than £200. But you wouldn't.
