Anyone have a rough idea how much staircases (stairs and landing) cost to have supplied and fitted? I want hard, oak ones, which will be carpetted, or maybe not if there's some kind of non slip coating that can be applies.

Staircase is 5 steps up, turn left, now you are on landing approx 2 meters long then another 5 stairs up, so 180 degrees on total, 10 steps plus landing.

Have one currently which I don't think is oak, some cheap soft wood thing, the steps have insulation then wood then carpet and still it creaks and makes a ton of noise when just one person goes up or down it, waking up the family, so we have stupid rules in the house where none of us can use it before 9am or after 10pm on weekends, which mean none of us can go downstairs before/after these times except to take the dog out, at which point you have to ninja it on certain steps. Myt spaniel likes to run everywhere and makes a right racket running down it.

Been quoted 15k which seems rather outrageous.

I can't find 180 degree staircases with a landing for sale online. They are the usual 90 degree ones.

Pear stairs are very good quality and have a handy online design tool.

You will need a chippy to fit though.

Work fitted a stairbox one and it was fine, join between the two halfs was only ok. Have no comparison, don't know if they do single piece ones.

It's not the wood type that creaks but the joints, well made and glued softwood is fine, badly made oak will creek. Any stairs without carpet are loud.

If it is being carpeted could the cost be kept down by having normal softwood treads & risers? just the string/newel posts/balustrade would need to be Oak/a hardwood.

This

Before you replace I'd have a go at improving what you have.

I'm sure google will give lots of tips, personally I glued and screwed everywhere whilst I was renovating my house - 2 years later I have two slightly squeaky treads but nothing worth worrying about.

Your quote is outrageous

As others have said if carpeted there is no need for oak treads/risers

For parts we ordered from http://www.jandjstairparts.com, very good service and quality

They do bespoke as well

Also true. Stairs are not my area of expertise but depending on construction you might well be able to sort it with the right glue and or some big screws.
