So iv'e always done minimum 90 max 98 on motorway but seem to speed past most other traffic. Not after a lecture about speeding i take that risk on my head but i feel the slower you go the more steering and throttle input. Not many go at this speed would like to see if i'm in a minority on a motoring forum?

I tend to go as below if the weather and road conditions are fine:

No traffic - 90/95
Light traffic - 80/85
Medium Traffic - 75/80
Heavy traffic - with the flow.

All would be down if wet/snow/ice etc.

I also will never use my phone, infotainment (beyond skipping track) or do anything in my cabin whilst driving,

I usually travel at around 67mph. I once did a regular late night journey halfway round the M25 and into Surrey, usually hardly any traffic. I tried an experiment; One time I did the journey at mostly an average speed of around 65mph, another journey at 85mph. It saved me about 4 minutes or so. Kinda felt its pointless ever since to risk my life and others for 4 minutes.

Why do you think you are automatically risking your life and others by doing 85 instead of 65/67?

If by funny, you actually mean hard of thinking. Then yes. I despair. Thanks for the laffs!

I tend to use motorways at quiet, relatively traffic free times so in clear conditions will cruise at 80 - 85...
Just occasionally if there's nothing in close proximity I'll push a bit more but otherwise I'll just go with the inner / middle lane flow...

Recently when stupidly tired went into 'just need to get home' mode and was shocked to be roaring along at 110....straight into services 10 miles from home for a coffee and a walkabout....

I know I drive too fast... O/H is a very nervous passenger having been involved in a horrendous mway smash involving fatalities... forever slowing me down.... Irony is when she drives it always seems to be at a glacial pace and yet we still arrive at more or less the same time as if I'd been driving....

70 seems too slow a limit these days as everyone ignores.... But it limits us all to a perceived tolerance above... That seems not to be applied by drivers of pretty much every German saloon....

Say that's a journey of 80 miles. 85mph versus 65mph will save you 17.4 minutes.

This.

Ive also found that on the MWs I use the majority of people do this. Its quite obvious when someone is trying to do 70 in the outside lane.
Ive also noticed it hardly makes any difference what car their are in - even smaller fiesta cars are so capable that they are happily sit at 85 mph no problems.

Of course all of this is conditions permitting

Personally i don't drive fast to get somewhere quicker. I press on because 70 feels like your bloody sleeping. pressing on I am always aware, enjoy it more etc

Do you drive with your hands at 9-3, too?

You can drive at whatever speed you like.
You may find it incurs additional charges and other prizes smile

Depends which car I'm in. On the very rare occasion I take the Lotus on the motorway I'll generally potter along with the lorries at 55ish. In the Skoda, typically around 75 if it's clear.

Car and age dependent to some degree.

Disco 3. Brick. 70 Mph, hit cruise, use cruise wheel controls to overtake, resume. Just too expensive to go faster, and it's very relaxing at 70. I bought it to relax ( and go off road ).

Tvr - 80 ish. . No real fun doing big numbers, I enjoy acceleration. Also doesn't feel massively safe over 120 .

I think if I had a smooth cosseted saloon id do bigger numbers.
