Hi there,

I managed to lose the blade off my key fob!

The car still starts thankfully, but I's still like to replace it (as cheaply as possible).

Can I take the blade from any f30 bmw and slot it straight in or is there something else I need to do?

Thanks

Err, it enables you to open the car with the key blade in the door lock should the car battery be dead I would assume?

^^ What he said
Use the blade to remove the cover on the drivers door lock and open the car if your central locking fails or battery goes flat, (check your handbook for how to if you are not sure) it is coded to the car so go to a dealer, phone first because they will want forms of ID for security reasons before ordering a key.

You'll be needing it to lock/unlock your glovebox too (does anyone actually do this......?)

You can lock away items in your glovebox with the key blade, remove the blade from the fob, and then hand fob and car to the garage. You used to be able to lock the boot separately too, not sure nowadays.
