yes

I must admit that I thought that they'd all decamp to one or other the the Bounty or Defiant - was actually surprised when they didn't. Really appreciating cap'n Shaw, good casting
Instead they stay on the badly damaged Titan.

Excellent episode. I am warming up to Shaw.

All the Easter eggs in this episode were much appreciated, as was Shaw's monologue in the previous episode about Picard and Riker's not so heroic activities in the past

Anyway - at the museum, when they saw the Defiant, I immediately thought "cloaking device gets fitted to the Titan", I didn't expect them to take the one from Kirk's commandeered bird of prey. I would have thought the Defiant's cloak would have been a better bet as more modern. Mind you, I half expected them to take the Defiant (especially with Worf there). I guess the Defiant's cloak had to be given back at the end of the Dominion war?.
The cloaking device on the Defiant was destroyed along with the original Defiant about 5/6 episodes from the end of DS9. The Defiant here is its replacement. It’s unknown if it had a cloak.

On the subject just finishing rebuilding our sons bedroom after new carpet, this lives on the top of the wardrobe, lots of buttons for all the various sounds etc.

Having him geek out with LaForge explains some of his lack of respect for Riker and Picard too - he's an Engineer first and captains his ship as an Engineer, not a swashbuckling "leap into danger" captain. He's developed into a great character.

Oh this is just bloody brilliant.

Proper storyline that makes coherent sense and holds the interest

Links to the past (big time!) with plenty of fan service

Character development for those who have been around a whole.

Establishing some interesting new characters grown from the old.

Great interesting new visuals and action sequences.

Imagine if this had been series 1? Start with a brilliant bang, fade out the nostalgia and into a further series with interesting new established ships and characters. Sigh.

Perfect in nearly ever way, they just need to turn the lights on now and again!!

Yes please, more of that. This was an episode for the fans, no doubt about that, and it was great.

I did raise my eyebrow a little at how they managed to bring back some old faces, but I am really impressed at how the cast have resurrected their characters and still managed to give them an appropriate evolution 20 years on. All very excellent.

And yes it got a little dusty in the room.

I'm not sure about this.

Shaw is a great character but he's playing off Picard & Riker, who commandeered his ship thus allowing him to throw his snarky one liners about.

A USS Titan series gives us what?

Shaw running the ship how he wants?
Maybe a little snippy with 7 of 9 on occasion?
The only other character we've seen with a back story is Sidney LaForge.

It's not much to go on.

Must admit to being a bit misty-eyed at the characters I used to watch as a lad now back together and making what is quite epic TV

It's just a shame that time has to pass because although I'd love 5 more series of this, I know it won't happen so am enjoying immensely the resurrection of one of my fave series and characters and loving that they have managed to turn series 3 into something really special.

Just watched it. It was great, but also a little sad seeing just how old some look now - and a little annoyed that this wasn't how Season One started.

Still, at least they do seem to be getting the treatment they deserve, so am thankful for that. I never thought it would ever happen.

When the Blu Ray or 4k is released, I shall buy. the first two seasons can FRO.

He's not really a lead character at the moment, I don't think. They ARE talking about a spin off from this season of Picard for the future - but only in very broad terms at the moment - calling it "Star Trek: Legacy", with characters from this season going forward. So Shaw could easily be a part of that, if that came off and the actor wanted to do it.

I knew the Defiant was destroyed, but I assumed that the Sao Paulo Defiant also had one, but it was actually only in three episodes and a cloak was never mentioned or used (I may have rewatched those episodes), so I guess the replacement Defiant never had one.

Wow, a Captain Shaw series is gathering support from some big names...

"A recent build up of interest in a new Trek series set in Picard’s early 25th century time period—initially dubbed by fans as Star Trek: Titan, as a chance to see Todd Stashwick’s Captain Shaw return to the helm of his ship from Picard and go on new adventures—has bubbled over this week as showrunners and cast alike have taken to social media and interviews to rally around the idea."

"The idea, instantly seized upon by actors from the show as well, already seems pretty fleshed out in all their minds—a new Trek show in the vein of Strange New Worlds, focusing on the Titan’s crew, including Shaw, Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), Sidney and Alandra La Forge (Ashleigh Sharpe Chesnutt and Mica Burton, respectively), and Jack Crusher (Ed Speelers), as they carry on the work of their parents and colleagues in exploring the galaxy. Hell, even Jonathan Frakes wants in, telling Emmy Magazine he’d even want Riker and Troi’s daughter Kestra on board. “I could be like Charlie in Charlie’s Angels, the admiral they check in with,” Frakes suggested."

Ever noticed how dark so many streaming shows are? And how many of their outdoor scenes are shot at night for seemingly no reason?

Apparently it reduces production costs as, in this 4k era in which sets and props have to be much more realistic, the thinking goes that, if it's too dark to see the sets, you don't have to dress them to the same extent...

Also, how would you be sure who the bad guys were unless their ships had the lights dimmed?

No offence to you, but that is a giant load of horsesh*t. A good mate of mine does lighting for tv and film, shooting dark scenes is actually far more work, especially in 4K. Everything is dark because that’s what viewers seem to want. Moody is the new bright.

So none of them get killed off in Picard then.
