I really liked it! I have grown up with Star Trek so guess I am going to be biased but the amount of work that first episode did to upskill those not in the know as well as nod towards those that are was quite impressive. Also threw in a couple of shock factors i.e. the death and the borg reveal at the end. I get that it may have plot holes but we haven't seen the rest of the series, a lot of these could easily be explained further down the line.

I did really feel the nostalgia though, as well as feel like something big is coming, really enjoyed it. Apparently Series 2 is already being drawn up.

That’s the point, it’s very accessible to new viewers who haven’t seen Star Trek before.

Well, thoroughly enjoyed that. By no means a TNG aficionado but watched enough to know the characters etc.

Fantastic production values, good script, well acted and interesting story possibilities. After so much bad/disappointing TV over the past 12 months hopefully this one will be different. Just a shame to have to wait a week for the next one and no 4k version.

Way ahead of you, been a fan of his channel for a while, though he does get a bit too down on stuff for the sake of it now and then. I do prefer Gary on Nerdrotics as he has industry experience working on TV doing editing and knows a lor of behind the scenes folk and the ststorm going on behind scenes of Discovery and Picard showrunning is quite eye opening.

Wow. That was freaking spectacular. A real delight. It also looks and sounds fabulous. 2.35:1 aspect ratio is also very welcome.

Balls deep.

I too have noticed it's not 4k, Discovery is! Poor.

There was a lot of exposition but I guess that's needed for the none trekkies.

I liked it great to have a good bit of Trek back on the screen.

No doubt others will complain that it doesn't follow on and that someone who was lefthand four seasons ago is now right handed. :-)

Amazon's 4K content isn't great anyway. The bitrate sucks, resulting in poor dynamic range which shows up as wishy-washy blacks and non-existent shadow detail. This looks great in vanilla 1080p anyway.

Only in my opinion of course.

Although in fairness, it does feel odd that Data has put on about four stone laugh

Was expecting this to be really obvious based on the previous comments but it didn't distract me too much, his face is just a bit rounder. He's an old man after all.

Thought it was solid.

Obviously a lot of scene setting and laying of storyline foundations but has excellent potential.

Will deffo be sticking with it.

Not yet lol he might phase into existence once again at some point!

Yes Data, much prefer to have the original actor with a few pounds on play him than a taut different actor trying to show him with no wrinkles and weight gain...or even a CGI effort!
