Woke is very specifically about awareness of systemic racial inequality in the US.
Hence the pointless immigration storyline shoe-horned into Picard season 2.

I gather you just assumed I was being less specific about the term woke. Either that or you didn't watch series 2 so didn't know about the immigration side-plot that served no purpose other than to occupy a now departed character.

Irony none that in series 3 his ship mattered more than he did.

I'm done, honestly.

I apologise to the thread regulars for disrupting usual service and I'm looking forward to S3 if it's as good as y'all are saying.

A bit annoying how Amazon UK only put out Picard on a Friday ... I can see it's available on 'the high seas' on Thursday when it comes out in the US. No idea why they delay it an extra day for the UK.

Whilst I do don my eyepatch to get a copy to keep locally for posterity, I like to make a point to watch it on Prime as it shows Amazon that I'm actually interested in the show and they should make/buy more shows and movies like that for their Prime service, to keep my custom.

Anyway, will watch the latest ep this evening.

You can legally bring it home a day early by using a VPN.

Excellent episode. I am warming up to Shaw.

All the Easter eggs in this episode were much appreciated, as was Shaw's monologue in the previous episode about Picard and Riker's not so heroic activities in the past

Anyway - at the museum, when they saw the Defiant, I immediately thought "cloaking device gets fitted to the Titan", I didn't expect them to take the one from Kirk's commandeered bird of prey. I would have thought the Defiant's cloak would have been a better bet as more modern. Mind you, I half expected them to take the Defiant (especially with Worf there). I guess the Defiant's cloak had to be given back at the end of the Dominion war?.

It was always meant to be on loan from the romulans in exchange for any intelligence from the gamma quadrant.

It was good, but too much fan service, not enough plot.

did it still have a cloak at the end of the war? I can't remember it used much and it was used when they retook DS9

I thought the little TNG clip they included worked well as a flashback memory, mostly because of how jolly and rose tinted it came across as someone's reminiscence of their youth.

Throwing old clips in can be jarring even if polished up but frame them the right way and they can fit.

I must admit that I thought that they'd all decamp to one or other the the Bounty or Defiant - was actually surprised when they didn't. Really appreciating cap'n Shaw, good casting

Like captain Pike, another captain deserving of his own show?
