What is it with Porsche's 4 headlights each side look. Like some spider and looks terrible.

Mégane was OK but looks far worse than a standard one in yellow or orange or red...

Wouldn't buy any of them, to be honest.

The same Tiff that shunted Nigel Mansell into a bridge?
Was that actually Tiff's fault though?
TIff braked, locked and shunted Mansell. Pure accident.

I liked this episode. I think showing they have unfinished business with the race will pay off, perhaps even more so if they are unsuccessful another time. I also think it’s good that they made the right call, and didn’t manufacture it into some TV celeb event where they skipped a section, or got given some other impossible pass and did a load of back slapping at the end because they’re so amazing.

I always skip SIARPC so no change there, it is long now though they don’t do a news chat section which I personally liked.

The Megane section was a good blend of proper review and a bit of fun.

I haven’t enjoyed TG or TGT this consistently for a long time.

I was surprised how desperate he was to get out at the sight of smoke.
What was the Alpine incident? It will probably explain it.

Onto a different matter. £72k for a Renault hatchback. rofl

GT4 was the best car of that trio. Lambo sounded the best but value for money and ability to stand up to proper track abuse then the GT4 was by far the pick of the bunch.
You’d have to possess some pretty useful locking wheel nuts with that Megane!

On the subject of the Megane's wheels, how do carbon fibre wheels stand up to daily use on UK roads with our decorative sleeping policemen and tyre manufacturer sponsored potholes? I know CF is very strong in certain planes but can it cope with the multiple stresses from the shocking state of UK roads? Anyone have any experience. I know my alloys were declared as "curbed" by Mini at the last service with no visual marks on them just from hitting potholes as I am very careful not to "curb" them on an actual curb.

I'm sure I read somewhere, probably in Evo, that it's almost impossible to buy the full £72k spec Megane anyway. Due to production capacity limitations I think it said only two UK cars could have the CF wheels and ceramic brakes, and one of those is the press car.

I'm slowly warming to these guys. However odd things that I notice. In Mr Wilman's day, I think they would have finished with perhaps the Stig in the Gallardo against Freddy in the Renault.

Enjoyed the episode too - particularly CH's motormouth review of the affordable car segment. Thought it funny how he slated all the current trendy cars like the T-Roc, Qashquai, Juke and CX5 and went for the fairly unfashionable Mazda 3 as his favourite. I didn't expect that - I honestly thought he was going to say "buy the 3 series touring". Great hatchet job on the pig ugly 1 Series too..... quite refreshing as car reviews these days rarely seem to criticise anything and its the sort of frankness JC was famous for.

A good point pro BBC, no advertising income.

Harris "The new 1 series looks st!!"
BMW "Mr BBC, show that comment and we will pull £XXm advertising budget"

I enjoyed it too. The 1-Series was always a munter, but somehow BMW has managed to make the latest incarnation even worse with that grille.

[pedant]kerb/kerbed on UK roads. Curbed in the US.[/pedant]

Carbon wheels are a terrible idea for road driving either way!

Didn’t know they made carbon fibre wheels.

How would they fare on British roads?!

I know C.F is strong but some of the roads round me are hardly even paved any more.

Bit more exotic than a Megane, but they’ve been doing it for some time.

Would be interesting to see what times Harris could have achieved in the Porsche and Lambo, the two Northern lads are not really in his league as a driver are theysmile
Exactly.

The difference in driver skill probably accounted for a least 5 seconds per lap.
