No likey, no watchy.
When I went along (in the LeBlanc, Harris & Reid era), the instructions for the day included one about not wearing branded clothing. Didn't stop a couple of tools rocking up in Ferrari tops.

Rant.....

After years of trying, me and my Son finally get tickets for filming yesterday. Take a day off work. Looking forward to it.

Email the day before states that the gates open at 4.00pm. Close at 4.30pm. No cueing. Limited places - first come first serve. Fair enough.

Get there at 3.05pm so park up and grab a beer in the Three Compasses. 3.20pm we notice increasing numbers of cars just going straight in. So off we go to see what's what only to be told at 3.25pm that they're now at full capacity and we're not able to get in!!! Some poor bloke behind us had driven down from Birmingham.

Gits!

Managed to get priority tickets for later but still ..... Gits!

A similar thing happened to me and a mate, we had a couple of tickets to see a recording of House Of Fools a few years ago (the Bob Mortimer/Matt Berry series). We got there in time, joined onto the end of the queue in plenty of time, which kept building up and we were just over half way along when the doors opened for filming. The front third/less than half of the line went in, the doors closed and that was it, everybody else had a new ticket for another day, Thankyou and goodnight. That wasn't any use as we had booked that day off to go and travelled to the Salford BBC 'Media City' studios. Afterwards we found out that they send out way more tickets than they have space for (they're free tickets), and it's first come first served in the queue. If we knew that earlier, we might have got in.

We still has a day out in Media City, and we did meet Mark Radcliffe walking between studios, so it wasn't all bad hehe .

Happened to me also a couple of years ago... The car in front of us was a Noble that the chap had driven 250 miles to be there! Fortunately for us its only 40 mins away, but we were still pissed off.

I don't think they will mind car brands. I suspect they just don't want people wearing things to promote their own companies. Of course, it may be that the chap in the Alfa shirt worked for Alfa but I still think that is in the spirit of the show,

All TV shows have hefty overbookings. They track how good you are at showing up. Reliable people get priority tickets. You can also get priority tickets by going to shows they find hard to fill.

Branded clothing, reminds me of this bloke used to see on BTCC after every race, he used to go stand by the podium but turn around with his company names jacket on so it was on TV. went on for about 2 years.

An entertaining evening. And some of the cars there were fabulous. One throbber briefly tried to ‘heckle’ but was shamed into silence.

standard practice! About 20 years ago and too dumb to know better I lived round the corner from the mtv studios in camden town, we got some tickets for a performance, massively overbooked studio and then they lied and kept everyone outside on the promise that even though we'd missed going in the performer would be out after the gig - what they basically wanted was sweeping "look at all these mugs that turned up desperate to get in" shots. They presented some shower of a boyband who got booed off.

Mind, have you ever met anyone who works in television? Everyone I've met, even otherwise genuinely nice people, has a terribly over inflated sense of importance. Because TV dahhhling. Even a god damn spread (plasterer) I knew would drop everything and let people down on a whim when offered a TV set job and just expect everyone to be ok with that.

Aint that the truth! I sometimes work on the peripheries of TV and even ad sales people are the same.

I do get the over booking thing. What irked me was that we were instructed not to turn up until 4.00pm but others did. We missed out because we stuck to the rules.

The bloke behind you still had a day out from Birmingham. Best day ever for him wink

It’s a real pain when the rules of a queue are formally lain out in writing, we then meticulously plan around and follow those rules only for the rule maker to not adhere to the basic principles of the English queue. It’s genuinely frustrating.

Being the BBC, they were probably being extra multi cultural and so running it on the Italian basis of totally fking ignoring everything and everyman for himself. biggrin
