Hi - has anyone had experience of Cridfords, their extended warranty package (along with Detailing)..

Got my eye on this https://www.cridfords.co.uk/inventory/used_cars/20...

Poor pictures, who photographs GR in the shade!

Aside, you will get very mixed response on here to Cridfords. Some don't like them. I bought from them a fair few years back & found them fine with no issues or problems.

Thank you! Did you take out the extended warranty?

I don't think I did, but would have had no claims on it anyway.

My father in law bought his Boxster from Cridfords and was very happy with them.

Later when he moved onto a 911 (not bought from there) he had them correct a number of faults and tidy up the car, and has used them for service ever since, even though they are about 100 miles away from him. He's very happy with the service from the workshop.

He had the 911 detailed there and was happy with it, I thought it was an "OK" job for the money.

Thanks Alfapork! I need to call them and understand about the extended warranty

That amount of interior red plastic belongs in a Fiat 500 not a Porsche 911. Dreadful.

I quite like it. Different from all black interior.

The interior colour coding would have cost a bit at the time but I really don't like it.

It will be because there was damage to the seat backs / console probably. Repainting one or the other (the console ideally) in GR would have looked better.

Cridfords may have improved since I used them...

..... and the problem with that is? A car gets a front end respray for stone chips, is that a problem provided it's done to a good standard? Anyhow it would be easy to check through the handbook or bonnet sticker what options it came with.

i don't dispute you may have had a problem with them in the past in which case say what it was.... but this is just a non-problem, you like the colour inside or not.

I'm really glad I've seen this car because I was ready to have the seats in my car painted guards red but I also think that the painted seats are probably just too much with the console. I'm guessing its the brightness of the colour because I've seen blue and white on 997 GTSs and thought they looked superb. Here is mine with just the console and belts.

I'd bet it didn't come with red seat backs from new. I stand to be corrected if anyone knows different however. Personally I'd have re-painted the seat backs silver; as someone says above you can have too much red in a 911, but it's personal taste.

No, I am not going to be explicit about what problems I had with Cridfords because that would constitute naming and shaming. Furthermore, as I said, they may have improved. But it's very unlikely I would buy from them again.

Ditto - nice contrast! A good looking car, no doubt!

Many years ago now, but the extended warranty purchased with a Cridfords car didn’t cover ‘everything’ as stated when I purchased it. Left me with a 6k+ bill (996 engine rebuild) and a view that no 3rd party warranty has any value. 3 appeals including to the ombudsman resulted in my cynical view of warranty companies. Not a criticism of Cridfords, more of warranties in general.

Thank you ... I’m sure warranties have been discussed and length on PH already. I’m trying to fast track my knowledge on whether the Porsche one is the copper bottomed thing to aim for, or whether the Indy sellers are able to provide a security that is sufficient.

I’ll investigate

This is good timing for me as I was thinking of going to look at this...

https://cridfords.co.uk/inventory/used_cars/200505...

I would be keen to know if they can be trusted as this car would be a risk, ceramics aside...my thoughts were that if it’s coming from Cridfords the risk might be lower...

It is very cheap though

I could always pay for an independent inspection

Thoughts?

Naming and shaming prevents the majority of real horror stories being publicised on here.
I had dealings with them 18 months ago, I didn’t buy a car off them, but having left a deposit on a car I struggled to get it back. I wouldn’t give them my business in future. Ever.
But they’re not the only well regarded Indy I’ve struggled to get a deposit back off.

Buying any 14 year old car is going to be a risk. Id ask for a borescope inspection report and if that's all ok, go through their 3 month warrantee paperwork with a fine toothed comb. If happy, go with your gut feeling.
I test drove a car there a few years back and they seemed ok to me. They have been trading for some years so can't be too bad...

What would you do after the three months, and the expiry of their warranty?
