Great last episodes
Discussion
Following on from the 'Good till the end' thread.
I watched the last Big Bang Theory at the weekend, and will be watching the last Game of Thrones tonight. I've avoided all spoilers, but I have read reviews have been 'mixed', which is usually polite for "fans didn't like it".
I think it's always hard to end a good series well, as Steven King just tweeted, words to the effect of, it's hard to end a good series, because however good it is, fans don't really want it to end.
It seems to me that most TV series hang around a series or two, too long and by the end we're just glad they have ended, some get cancelled too early or worse between series, some have built up so much hype over the years that it could only ever been an anti-climax and some, don't so much end, as stop, either they couldn't come up with something great, or were hoping they might get a last minute extra series.
The only series that springs to mind that ended well is The Wire, all loose ends tided up, plus this sudden realisation that despite all the drama over the past 6 years, life just carries on, as fked up as it ever was as if it never happened.

Breaking Bad springs to mind. Not just the last episode, but the whole final season was near as damn it perfect.
IMO the final series was a bit strained and empty in places, but the last episode was enjoyably elegant in its execution and simplicity at the end.Edited by Mafffew on Monday 20th May 15:44

Star Trek TNG ended well, I thought
I think Voyagers ending was much better. Convenient plot device used... but it was always going to have to be, given the story.
Always thought a voyager movie about rescuing neelix would have been good.
You could have had Janeway and co going to steal the uss voyager except they get busted by starfleet but starfleet understand what it means to "the famliy" and actually allow them to take the ship. Would be a cheeky nod to the search for spock.
