Blackadder goes forth does indeed win.

However B.B and ashes to ashes we're both good last episodes.

Agreed - there have been better series but I've yet to see a better ending.

The final episode of Minder, The Long Good Thursday. Arthur Daley finally being taken away by The Plod for a crime, ironically, he DIDN'T commit! Although I wish it could have gone on even longer than it did, I felt it was a fitting end.

This.
Literally doesn't get better than this. I don't know why more shows don't look at this episode and see how it's done properly.

The last episode of The Americans was just perfect. A great way to wrap up a brilliant series.
Indeed, an excellent series and the last episode was absolutely brilliant, the music they played when the FBI guy confronted the KGB agent was phenomenal (Dire Straits, Brothers in Arms) and suited the scene perfectly, I actually got a bit of dust in my eye!

I agree whole-heartedly with The Wire suggestion. Everything was rounded off nicely only for the viewer to realise that the cycle just continues.

My input would be ‘The Office’ when Tim and Dawn get together. The final episode was a perfect balance of comedy, sadness and happiness.

Father Ted.
What a series - ended with the American episode & a montage...

(Blackadder is the right answer though!)

Totally agree. I was quite surprised when it was mentioned the other day in the 'shows that started great but then went rubbish' (or similar) thread.

Yes, I hated the ending, because it didn't seem to leave any possibility of it coming back. I really enjoyed the show when it was new, and it might well have been the first series I'd watched from the start and followed all the series.
