Shame the first season is only 8 episodes but season 2 has already been green lit and is in fact filming now.
Also love Karl Urban's English swearing.
I think it's very good that Homelander has a God complex and everyone is basically st scared of him but most desperately try not to show it. His mostly calm exterior but hugely deranged interior is also brilliantly portrayed by Antony Starr. While I love Superman, I've also always been a bit dubious of his too good personality. The newer films try to introduce a bit of ambiguity to the character but he is still far too pure. Homelander is a much more realistic interpretation of someone who can pretty much do whatever they want and get away with it.

Just watched the last one what a great show.
I’ve read before people talking about a golden age of TV..
Well you know what, I think they are right. Not since Miami vice can I think of such a step change with production values, story writing and acting.
got,Chernobyl, true detective etc etc.

The graphic novels are properly perverted, in a good way The Boys are a outstanding and essential read imo . Gareth Ennis and Darick Robertson really went to work on this .
Yes this is actually toned down quite a bit. I seem to recall when starlight went there it was a lot worse and they carried on.

Indeed it did , if you want the proper uncut version than you gotta read the graphic novels .The violence and the filth is epic !
I've read bits and pieces of the comics if not all of them. While they are a lot more full on, I think the changes the show has made are actually for the better. Controversial probably among fans of the comics but the characters were nowhere near as fleshed out In the comics, they were caricatures (no pun intended) and pretty black and white. The show has introduced a lot more nuance and greyness.
The only bit that might be a bit off is they've changed Butchers background story pretty comprehensively. At the moment I can't decide if it's for the better or worse, I guess we'll see how that plays out next season.

I read them a while back and while it is quite a bit different, I've really enjoyed the first series.
If it makes for better watching, I don't think TV shows always need to be overly faithful to the source material.
As rubbish a film as batman v superman was, the superman nightmare scene did seem to have a bit of "the boys" to it.
Urban seems to be great in these sort of roles, can someone please just kick off this dredd series they've been threatening to do?

I binged watched the series yesterday. I'm off work and for a change I decided to do something for me.
I liked it. I think it didn't go far enough but clearly that's because the 2nd series has already been commissioned.
All characters and actors were excellent but especially Anthony Starr. I liked him in Banshee. He plays a psycho very well - talking to you with a smile while not quite looking at you. You know he's thinking of his next move.
But his character was quite a departure from Lucas Hood, and so is the measure of a good actor.
I'm definitely in for the 2nd series.
