I expected him to go somewhere else, more Gere-like perhaps, but they already did that in episode 1
Ditto - though ep1 wasn't quite the same Marumi said:
I've really enjoyed all 3 seasons so far. It's very good.
Although this episode was the first in which I hoped they had a decent finish in mind. Obviously they're somewhat following the story of the comic but have gone off piste in several areas. I would hate it to become one of these lingering shows where the writing becomes an exercise in prolonging the gravy train, rather than telling the good story. The latest episode felt like it opened up another avenue, hopefully that goes somewhere definitively.
Totally agree.Although this episode was the first in which I hoped they had a decent finish in mind. I've not read the comics, and would like a show of this quality to carry on for as long as possible. But the avenues it looks like it has could end up leading to gravy.

Giancarlo Esposito seems made to play ice cold bad MF. I don't know what actual power Stan Edgar holds at the top of the tree but the screen presence is excellent.
The problem is I see Gus Fring (Breaking Bad) every time he's on screen. For those that haven't seen Breaking Bad it's a very similar character played (just as well of not better) by the same actor

Arguably Gus was the better character. Layered as public friendly chicken man, friend of the cartel, and ice cold meth king Gus. Instantly able to interchange between them. Edgar is pretty much cartel Gus/Meth Gus mix all the time. For those that haven't seen Breaking Bad it's a very similar character played (just as well of not better) by the same actor
I guess his Star Wars character is similar too. Which supports the idea that these roles = get me Giancarlo

If Giancarlo Esposito is happy to be typecast he's going to have a long and successful career doing what he does best!

"Hi honey, so what did you do in work today?"
"Well... I jumped around naked on a trampoline, in a giant bag of polystyrene packing peanuts."
