Disney+ new streaming announced officially
Discussion
well that was sort of easy - i'm running Disney+ on tablet and laptop - just need to get it onto the TV
nothing illegal as such as i am paying for it!!!
basically - enrolled for a few months of a VPN - created a gmail account in the USA, loaded it with PLAY credit , on my tablet via USA VPN , created a new user based on the gmail USA account, went to play store, downloaded disney+ app, logged on using gmail for USA , paid with google PLAY credit for 6.99 a month, job done.
Once signed up, then my laptop will play it via the disney plus website (connected via VPN)
ROKU wont play ball without a factory reset and change of location when start up , but i'm not going to do that, i might get a cheap used 2nd roku and just have that as a "USA roku....."

I happily use and support Netflix and amazon and sky, I try to do the right thing and pay for content but if people like Disney have a good series like mandalorian and won’t release in the U.K. for a while then I might be tempted to watch it some other way.

Which raises a good point. All these studios might develop rival streaming services to Netflix but are they going to have the same ease of use?. rider73 said:

...its on the TV now - HDMI cable from laptop
the tricky thing is to pay, once you have done that you can sign in to any device / laptop as long as its a USA VPN connection.
the interface isnt great for sure - plenty of old content and all the marvel / star wars you will ever need - the new stuff is thin on the ground just yet - but lots in the pipeline - although by that time it will be UK wide release anyway .
Its certainly going to be an interesting marketplace soon with all the streamers coming online (britbox another example) - i hardly ever watch anything on sky anymore - i wonder how long Sky's expensive subscription model will survive - thier NOW TV arm is much better for one off month subscription and binge watch anything of interest .
Sky will always be the sports go to though i guess which will keep people on it - and now they have bundled netflix on thier platform, makes me wonder if a merger might be on the cards for them , especially for producing entertainment content!

It would be interesting if that reporter will re visit after a month or three to see what has changed from day 1. 10 million subs is a lot to deal with, it seems they exceeded expectations on numbers signing up.https://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=sh...
Anyhoo, some reviews on Star Wars 4k. Jury is still out on picture quality it would seem, but favourable, awaiting comparison with hard copy if I read the review right but above 1080p.

been hearing stories that now that the Mando is over D+'s subscribers are dropping out at quite a rate of knots - could this impact their UK model I wonder...
Yeah everyone in the uk has already seen it. Problem is Star Wars Skywalker stuff is all coming out on 4k hard copy and I like that but probably stick with it.
