Guy Martin -The Great Escape!
Discussion
It was a bit nuts they dragged it out to over two hours. I don't even think the original stunt is that impressive. It's cool due to it's place is the film but in the realms of movie stunts I don't think it ranks very highly.
When I started watching it I thought it was only an hour long and actually gave up when I realised it still had well over an hour to go when I had assumed at the 15 to ten advert break they were going to come back and show them do the stunt. I just was not that interested to sit through another hour of it for what I assume would be all over and done with in moments. The program already felt very padded out at the hour mark.

Watched it all whilst wrapping presents as nothing else on TV but have to ask, what was the point in any of it?
For our entertainment.Possibly......
He does more than just the headline.
Some of the history of the real GE was pretty good. Would’ve liked more of that but then I guess that’s BBC4 territory.
One notable thing was how much utter bks there was in the film.
No Americans.
No bikes.
No mass execution. The idea that the “Fifty” were actually shot alone or in twos or three whilst being transported back to the camp, with the camp commandant himself subsequently funding their memorial out of his own pocket, was all rather sad.
I enjoyed it very much-although the bigger fence in the film looked much higher than the one guy jumped.
The great Escape is always a bit special to me as my mother worked for someone that was an inmate at stalag Luft 3-wing commander Norman “conk” Canton dfc.he was actually one of the tunnellers, but was not allowed on the escape due to his tunnelling experience-they wanted him to remain to dig more tunnels, much to his extreme anger.
It was a decision that probably saved his life as he was a serial escaper and had been captured numerous times and would surely have been one of the 50 murdered escapers had he been caught again.
I have his tunic button escape compass, that he gave to my mother.a very cherished possession indeed...

I thought it well done. Very informative and also made me look up Scrambler 1200 on the Triumph site.
£12k, fook that!
Nice looking retro bike with a very non retro price tag.
Indeed. Triumph have lost the plot and seem to be following that other British marque Land Rover in being more style than substance.£12k, fook that!
