Netflix - What gems have you found? (NO SPOILERS) (Vol. 2)
Discussion
I think he was a nice guy off the court, you often see it in the golf trips and after winning, but on the court and in practice he was an ahole. He had to be to get the team around him up to his level. He wanted to win at all costs, and if that meant pushing his team mates to be better then he did it "You can grab on to the cape, but you got to hold on". As it was said, he was at 100% all of the time, if you were not giving him 100% then he would get on your back until you did, or you didn't deserve to be there.
And as good as his team mates were, Scottie especially was a Hall of Famer and the best Small Forward at the time, but even the very best were not at MJ's level. The team had to deal with MJ's pressure and Michael had to deal with the pressure of the city, the press and himself to perform miracles every night.
But when there is 5 seconds left on the clock, a point down, he is the one who was taking the shot.

The Last Dance - 10 Part documentary about Michael "His Airness" Jordan and the Chicago Bulls rise from a nothing team to probably the greatest sports team in history.
As a basketball and MJ fan during the time, I knew about them and followed them, haven't watched Basketball for a long time but its great to be reminded how fantastic a sport it was/is and just how good Michael Jordan was.
You don't need an interest in the sport to watch it, its just a fantastic documentary from start to finish, beautifully put together with a great sound track as well.
Its always the same when you look at not just the greats in sport, but those very, very few who were above the greats, at how unbelievable driven they are, how failure is not even an thought to them. Everything was a challenge to MJ, a passing comment, not shaking hands etc, you piss him off and it will consume him until he destroys you on court, he was a force of nature, and you knew he was coming.
For me, the greatest sports star of my generation, possibly of all time.
Its an outstanding doc, well worth a watch and together with Ken Burns Vietnam doc, two of the best I have seen in a long time.
He came across as a thoroughly unpleasant chap. Interesting series though, Scottie Pippen was properly ripped off, he was a great player. Dennis Rodman, what a nutter! Currently making my way through through Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2845786/?ref_=nv_sr_s...
Some of the earlier stuff is coming up to 8 years old now and has probably since been covered by YouTube vloggers, but still makes for good casual viewing for those with an interest in food and travel.

If this kind of thing interests you, there is a really good documentary about rodman on the 30 for 30 series on btsport As a basketball and MJ fan during the time, I knew about them and followed them, haven't watched Basketball for a long time but its great to be reminded how fantastic a sport it was/is and just how good Michael Jordan was.

Five episodes in to season 3 of DarK, not sure I'm enjoying it in all honesty. Everyone is each others son/daughter/father/mother. Everyone is killing their own family members and/or sleeping with each other.
I know this is going to sound a little daft considering the subject matter, but it's all getting a little far fetched.

Just finished Ozark series 3. I really like the series and the style of the filming etc. However it is getting a little bit grim / graphic at times. The subject matter is drug cartels so understandable, but I’m feel for the first time that watching all this isn’t very ‘healthy’.
Isn't this down to how the roles are developing. They've gone from basic money laundering help to flat out crime lords! Cutting out the middle man and going straight to the Don. I imagine that world gets worse and worse the more you get into it.jammy-git said:

I've heard from 2 people and apparently the ending is one of the most satisfying to a series ever and that neither of them saw coming. I'm also on episode 6.I know this is going to sound a little daft considering the subject matter, but it's all getting a little far fetched.

I'm quite enjoying Snowpiercer. The whole concept is daft as to why they are on a train but the actual show is put together pretty well. The characters are shades of grey and the plot is building up nicely.
The internal dimensions of some of the carriages is ridiculous. They make the tardis look perfectly natural.Mattygooner said:

In Mondays episode it was mentioned as 10 miles from tail to engine.so 16km, with 1001 cars thats only 16m per car, which seems very small from the screen size. probably bigger than a current train car, certainly seems wider, and 2 decker of course
I've given up on the actual dimensions of the thing. The undertrain, classrooms, tail and 3rd class bits are regular train sized but 1st class dining, accomodation, the nightclub and that market place are all a lot bigger. I can let it go but it just seems sloppy.Warrior Nun out today, looks good

Just finished the two first series of Good Girls - follows the story of 3 fairly normal housewives who end up in a money laundering ring. Echoes of Breaking Bad, but with more light hearted moments, I enjoyed it far more than I expected when the wife put it on.
S3 is out at the end of the month, I'd say it's worth a watch.

Not sure what changed with The Sinner into season 3, whether it was writers or directors but it really was poor. It didn't help that there was no emotional connection whatsoever to Matt Bomers character who was just unlikable from the off.
I was disappointed.
This.I was disappointed.
Mrs P and I thoroughly enjoyed series 1 & 2, but we didn't even bother to finish series 3. It became utterly absurd and unwatchable. We're pretty hooked on Snowpiercer at the minute and also watching Money Heist while waiting for the next SP episodes to come out.

Not Netflix, so technically a bit naughty (though I think it has been on there in the past) but how did I miss 'The Five'? Another Harlen Coben one, and having enjoyed Safe and The Stranger I downloaded it. Loving it.
On the back of this post I just realised there is a new Harlen Coben on there, The Woods. It's probably been mentioned on here and I've skim read. Lined up to watch when I've finished The Five.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Video Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
