Thought I would give To the Lake a watch after a few comments on here, actually found it to be an extremely eerie and tense pandemic thriller. Russia during winter was also the perfect location, only complaint was it was on the slow side but this did help build an impression that they were in a vast area that was sparsely populated with tough living conditions.
Yeah. Really enjoyed this.

Get yourself over to the historical side next - la Rev

Finished the Queen’s Gambit in 1 sitting. Really enjoyed it, even watch a YouTube video breaking down the final game which was cool.

Up to Episode 5 of Better than Us. Really enjoying it. Russian subtitled S/F. May have already been mentioned on here but if so I missed it.

I thought is had promise, lasted 30 minutes and turned it off.
Agreed. I doubt I made it to 30 minutes. I thought it might have some promise as well. Really muffled with too much bass. I kept messing about with sound settings but gave up.

Switched to Polar with Mads Mikkelsen which was okay.

I watched the lot in one go. eek

Absolutely brilliant. The first episode is more about setting the story up, episode 2 onwards is where its gets going with the main characters.
The lead actress is superb, not seen her before but is she gorgeous, amazing eyes.
If this was a film she would be up for an Oscar IMHO.

Trailer is https://youtu.be/CDrieqwSdgI

It's an incredibly well produced piece of work for a series on Netflix, everything works from the cast, background story to the period clothes and backdrops. It's more than good enough to have been made into film.

I'm only one episode in and it looks promising. I'm already eyeing up a luxury chess set to buy (my ex wife refused to let me have my old one back).

Anya Taylor-Joy, she's been in a few films over the last few years and she's usually really good. The VVitch, Split, Glass, Emma, The New Mutants.

Late to the party but we've just finished The Staircase.

It's a 13 part documentary following a man accused of murdering his wife which seems to have been a big hit when first shown in 2018. If you liked Making of a Murderer then it'll be a really good watch.

Did he do it? Decide for yourself. Just don't google anything before you watch it.
