Funny, I loved both this and Knight Rider in the 1980s during my childhood. I have all the Knight Rider DVDs and can still enjoy watching them even now, with just a wry smile at how dated it looks.
However about three years ago, my sister bought me a D of H DVD box set and i remember sitting down to watch them, feeling sure I'd love them still as much as i do Knight Rider. However, i came away with two distinct observations:
(1) It really was a bit cheesy and wooden and hasn't really stood the test of time.
(2) Daisy Duke. Oh. My. God. Daisy Duke. In my defence, I was only about 11 when the show finished and far more interested in the General Lee than some girl, but - WOW! Also, how in god's name did she get away with some of those outfits at prime time?!

I spotted this the other day and applied suitable series linking on the Sky box
I didn't realise it was on until it was posted here, and was kicking myself for missing the start as I have a particular liking for re-watching stuff right from the first episode. Turns out, though, that while next Saturday has episodes 3 and 4, on Sunday they're showing 1 and 2 again, so I can catch up. Unfortunately my Youview box doesn't offer series link so I'll have to remember to set it every weekend.

According to my EPG it's episodes 3&4 on Saturday and 5&6 on Sunday.Turns out, though, that while next Saturday has episodes 3 and 4, on Sunday they're showing 1 and 2 again, so I can catch up. Unfortunately my Youview box doesn't offer series link so I'll have to remember to set it every weekend.
Annoyingly, I can't series link it. I think the channel have fked up something because series link isn't available, but I can still series link all kinds of other stuff on other channels.
Thanks to this thread I’m now watching episode 1 which I recorded last night.
There’s a chase scene near the end where the boys are driving around the town, and at one point they drive past another General Lee that’s parked up! (I assume this is probably well known to all the proper DoH nerds)

Record Set for Saturday, gutted I missed the first one..
Anyhow as a kid I loved the Dukes of Hazzard, I still do now and have always wanted a dodge charger, for my 40th this year I was given a driving day of the 80's classic cars with car chase heroes, I was so excited to finally drive a 69 Charger, I was left somewhat disappointing, more so with KITT... Its true what they say... you should never meet your heroes.

I followed this as it happened, online, for a long while. It was, to me, the same feeling as when Sean Kiernan went public about his late father's ownership of Steve McQueen's Bullitt Mustang. The shameful thing was, as things transpired, that although a completely original car was found, (THE Lee1 - the first of them all), the restoration saw many original parts of LEE 1 sold off. Items such as the roof and, I believe, the engine. Utterly irreplaceable from an originality perspective.
LEE 1 was restored, but so many original items were removed that it only made $110,000 at auction. You can never recreate that originality and LEE 1 as-found has been lost forever, sadly. What a terrible waste, in my view.
Those first 5 episodes were the best for me. They were grittier and the stories were based on fact. The locations used were real rather than the Series 2-onwards Warner studio back lot. And to have the original, real-life inspiration for the DofH, Jerry Rushing, starring in Repo Men was an added bonus.
But the later episodes, dumbed-down as they were, appealed deliberately to a wider audience shown at an earlier time in the evening. Watching those fresh episodes as an 8, 9, 10, 11 year-old back then, I didn't care about the dumbing-down. I just wanted to see every episode and for my parents and sister to be quiet while I watched.

I heartily recommend the Kibbe and Friends podcast for DoH and specifically General Lee nerding. Hours of deliberation over the variations of the pushbar is just one of the highlights.
I came here to post this! I found it via Mike Finnegan's stuff. Took me a while to get into the format but I really appreciate the nerdiness of it all enough to get through the gringy bits.Bellini said:

A guy bought it, wanted to get it back on the road.
Let's not beat around the bush - the car as it was found was utterly shot. As in scrap.
So, it was either replace knackered parts or leave it as a static object. Some people believe the latter should have been the course of action, but the guy who owned it (and let's face it, it's his car) wanted it like it was in that first show.
Well, off the back of this thread I've now set up the V+ box to record it. I can't be sure, but I suspect I've not actually seen the first series. I was nine in 1979 when it first aired, but was that it's US transmission date, or in the UK too? I definitely watched lots of DofH, but can't be sure if it was when they were first shown, or if it was later and I was seeing repeats.
Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing episode 1, whether it be for the first time or "again". It's been a long time since I watched any episodes. Forces TV is a good source of 1980s action hero TV though. I've caught a few Knight Rider episodes every now and then, and that led to some confusion. I'm guessing that 'back in the day' I didn't watch every episode of every series, because there were characters (and "bad KITT" cars and even trucks that I couldn't remember. And Airwolf has been shown again too, even the dodgy later season without Jan Michael Vincent.
The only drawback with watching re-runs like this is when different channels (or sometimes the same damned channel) play several seasons all at the same time, so characters seem to change by the episode, and back again, or timelines get confusing.
I wonder if they'll ever get around to re-showing StreetHawk?

It was on a year or two ago (on ForcesTV again, I think, it must be the home of '80s classics). I wonder if they'll ever get around to re-showing StreetHawk?
One episode had George Clooney in it.
That's another show that even though you remember it being a big show from your youth there are only a dozen episodes and there wasn't a 2nd season.
