Have only seen the first one so far; thought it was ok but the missus loved it.

A bit too long at two hours and I suspect they deliberately make all of the murder suspects thoroughly horrible people... wealthy family, arrogant high flying career types, maybe the odd weirdo Bohemian type thrown in etc. I think the idea is that as a viewer you don't care whodunnit you just want to see one of the pillocks get what's coming. This applies equally to Death In Paradise (which the missus also loves 'for the scenery' rolleyes) which has become so bad it's actually irritating to watch.

I do like the main actor Jason Watkins though. He's always been good in everything I've seen him in.

Explicitly telling the audience "the murderer can only be one of these people" is such lazy script-writing, it really really ruins it.

For example we knew 100% the guy who gave him the lift back to town couldn't have done the murder- he wasn't in the group of named individuals!

Saw the second episode. Even more ridiculous.
However it stick by my view on the 2nd Mar that it is harmless fun to kill a couple of hours. The characters are nicely over-played and, like most stuff today, it is nicely filmed in hd using drones etc to give a lovely view of Bath.
And that’s where I saw him, W1A. That was fantastic.

That's about right. It's comedy drama - isn't it?

Fair enough comments above, it's nice easy viewing and not to be taken seriously... no doubt I'll be watching the second episode on catch up with the missus at some point over the weekend.

Also that's a good point above about the use of drone cameras in filming aerial scenes... I'm starting to notice this more and more in various productions and it's great to see this technology being used. Hopefully they won't overdo it as when utilised at the right moment can have quite a dramatic effect.

I watched the second episode last night as well. yes, it's a comedy drama. I don't know why people thinks it's not. It's not meant to be Inspector Morse, it's more like Pie In The Sky.

The characters are comedy characters, that's the whole point. Mrs Women is the senior person and clueless. She only looks good because Mr Man solves it for her and she takes the credit. And Mr Man is a bumbling idiot, only he's not.

And the very senior police bloke, he dresses up like an Action Man !

I caught a re-run of the first episode at the weekend as I was channel hopping (in case anyone thinks I was watching ITV deliberately) having been unaware of the initial showing in March.

It's good to see Jason Whatnot playing a weirdo copper rather than a weirdo murderer like normal, but perhaps that is the plot twist to come, he is in fact responsible for all crimes in the Avon area.

I've set the Series Link for the second episode next weekend, it's always useful to have something lightweight ready to watch.

Wikipedia says there is a second season on its way.

He's in a film called "The Children's Act" being shown tonight on BBC2 at 21:00.

I set it up to record after reading this.
Then my wife reminded me we came to that same conclusion for opener last time.

Or is it just too silly for words? I haven't seen the latest episode, it's on record as are the previous series. I thought the ones that I saw were light hearted fun - are you saying that it gets unbearable?.

It think it is the ITV equivalent of Death in Paradise - all ridiculous plots and recognisable guest victims and murderers.

The latest episode wasn't helped by some obvious Covid filming, so people standing in odd positions to maintain social distancing, and the final showdown scene being filmed in front of a green screen.

I thought it was a bit of harmless Sunday evening tv. I assume it was filmed as Covid kicked off, as there was the odd bit of elbow bumping one minute and then back to hand shakes later on. I noticed the green screen bits too, but it was quite well done.
In a PH nitpicking vein though, I'm not sure how practical a tracking vehicle the Jeep was. Fine for towing the trailer (although that was missing too), but not sure how 5 passengers were going to fit in it.

Ask me in 2 hours, rest days and home alone! Enjoyed the first series in a mind in neutral way. But it is filmed well in a lovely part of the world.

We won't even mention how the massive basket fitted in their tiny trailer biggrin

I didn't see the first series (tried to find it on ITV Hub, no joy) but it seems little has changed.

The green screen stuff in the balloon was comical. I can't recall the last time I saw something that looked so obviously superimposed. Did they play it back and go "That's looks terrible. Ah, fk it" ?

Wow, we must be twins. What an absolute pile of cr@p this is. We kept watching it with utter bemusement scarcely believing what we were seeing. After 45 mins I couldn't take another 75 so went straight to the end. It didn't get better. Bizarre, how did this get to series 2?
