The green screen stuff in the balloon was comical. I can't recall the last time I saw something that looked so obviously superimposed. Did they play it back and go "That's looks terrible. Ah, fk it" ?
I particularly enjoyed how the balloon kept levelling itself off in spite of only being held by three karabiners. That bloke must've been heavier than he looked.Red9zero said:

It isn't meant to be taken seriously, is it?....
It think it is the ITV equivalent of Death in Paradise - all ridiculous plots and recognisable guest victims and murderers. The latest episode wasn't helped by some obvious Covid filming, so people standing in odd positions to maintain social distancing, and the final showdown scene being filmed in front of a green screen.
I think a few of the subtle Covid references were quite funny. Especially where he got his glasses and face covering entangled and couldn't figure out how to get them apart

Wow, we must be twins. What an absolute pile of cr@p this is. We kept watching it with utter bemusement scarcely believing what we were seeing. After 45 mins I couldn't take another 75 so went straight to the end. It didn't get better. Bizarre, how did this get to series 2?
Never seen this before, liked the look of it on a trailer then .....Edited by DaveGrohl on Tuesday 2nd March 07:16
.....OMFG, this was not only laughably dreadful, but it managed to be that on several levels. The production, "acting" (if I can call it that), dialogue, plot .... need I carry on.
If this was a Film School project it would have got D-

And the lead police officer had a smug face the whole way through but I couldn't work out why. Maybe it's because she can't believe she's actually being paid for this dross?
I love this show!
It's not highbrow, but then it clearly isn't meant to be. Enjoyed the rugby player/birthday party episode more than the hot air balloon one.
I'm very annoyed that they are postponing the last episode for now.
But then again, what do I know. I also enjoy Shakespeare And Hathaway, The Mallorca Files, and Father Brown, and I'm currently working my way through the 61 episodes of Tales Of The Unexpected that I've recorded. The things "lockdown" does to you, eh?

Yellowjacket - a kindred spirit. You are also missing an afternoon of Midsummer Murders or Montaibano, for some beautiful Sicilian scenery. After a year of miserable continuous news, social media and Brexit before that, all of this is mind in neutral escapism. Joyful, in a murdery type way. My wife thinks it is dross and just shakes her head in despair.

Oh no! Poor you. I'm lucky in so far as my wife's natural state (when she's not working) is to be engrossed in detective dramas whether in book, film, or TV form. Anything from Marple and Poirot, to Detective Murdoch, Hudson And Rex, and the Brokenwood Mysteries via Longmire, Magnum, and NCIS. But even she draws the line at Knight Rider... My wife thinks it is dross and just shakes her head in despair.
So many 'serious' crime shows are lamentably full of plot holes and unlikely characters - Vera is a classic example - but this one is clearly a parody. Viewed with that in mind it's an amusing concept which pokes fun at stereotypes. Don't like it, don't watch it! The best cop show is probably the 1980s US series 'Hill Street Blues'.

Never seen it listed - I'll look out for it. Look for Hill Street if you don't already know it. Without it The Bill would never have been made, apparently.
It's on Amazon prime....or if you've got an android box it's available through 1 of the apps.Hill st blues was not my cup of tea

Indeed yes. It's not meant to be Morse, is it ? It's light Sunday evening viewing (when such things existed).Vera, on the other hand, is drivel. I've watched a couple and no, as you say, you end up thinking "where on earth did that plot etc come from ?" Plus Brenda Blethyn#s stupid high pitched squeaky voice drives me mad (we watched the whole of Outside Edge on DVD not long ago and she talks normally in that). As as I result it will not be darkening the door of my TV again !
